Organizations Filed Purposes:
The Hope Chest for Women provides financial assistance, education and emotional support to women in Western North Carolina diagnosed with breast or gynecologic cancer who are experiencing economic difficulties due to treatment costs.
1. Our WNC Cancer Patient Support program provided over 1040 hours of financial navigation and resource referral to 121 unduplicated female cancer patients. We provided over $40,000 in direct financial bill pay, gasoline and food assistance to women in cancer treatment. . 2. We provided community outreach in WNC to an estimated 1,200 women. This included attending community health fairs to promote cancer prevention/early detection, giving formal presentations to local churches and civic groups, attending cancer support group meetings, and distributing care packages to cancer patients undergoing treatment in chemotherapy clinics.
3. In 2019, the Missions of Hope program had 53 volunteers participate in 3 mission trips to Santa Barbara, Honduras. A total of 525 Honduran citizens were examined in general-health clinics by our doctors; 205 students were examined in local schools by our doctors; and 145 non-duplicated patients were seen during pre-surgery screening clinics with 23 operations performed by our surgeons.
