Leadership Training and Development: Throughout the year, the League provided various opportunities for members to gain leadership skills The year began witha Leadership Retreat for all members provided training on League procedures, Roberts Rules of Order, public speaking, communication skills and annual planning. We had our Mid- year retrea with all of our members where we discussed strategic planning, our community focus area, and engaged in team building exercises. Furthermore, weach member gained experimental leadership traing through their Leage placement oa a Council where they are tasked with an operating function or program of the League. Members learn how to raun an effective meeting and how to take an idea and make it a reality. We also sent various members to trainings held by the Association of Junior Leagues International to refine their leadership skills. We launched our Leadership Education and Develpment (LEAD) even series. These events are open to the public and feature a different topic each month. Topics included career development, resume writing, fundraising and financial literacy.
Promoting Volunteeris in Our Community with Volunteer Expo: The League organized our 3rd Annual Volunteer Expo highlighting area nonprofits. Seventy-five local nonprofits were invited to attend and the league provided them with booth space to set up and share information about their organizations mission and vounteer needs. The event was promoted throughout Buncombe County inviting community members to attend the free expo to learn about the nonprofits serving Western North Carolina. Attendees had a change to gather information and talk to organization's mission and volunteer needs. Attendees had a chance to gather information and talk to representative of each nonprofit. The expo was attended by approximately 600 community members.
