Our Mission is to educate, advocate and organize for a just and sustainable local economy that works for all of Western North Carolina.
-Certified over 52 businesses paying a living wage , adding to the largest voluntary living wage certification program in the country, -Graduated our 19 th class of Voices for Economic Justice , building up the leadership capacity of people living on a low-income, -Successfully advocated for funding approved by the Asheville City Council for transit routes outlined in the Asheville Transit Master Plan, -Strengthened the work of the Living Wage Coalition of Transylvania County, certifying 8 more employers, conducting 2 poverty simulations, and continuing to educate the community about economic injustice,
-Led the Western Regional Coalition of Raising Wages NC a campaign to raise the state minimum wagefacilitating educational workshops, delivering Love Letters to Workers, hosting a Workers Assembly, and raising awareness about the campaign in Western North Carolina, -Launched our Affordable Housing Strategy Team, -Hosted a Transit Assembly, facilitated a public budgeting workshop, ran poverty simulations, planned powerful events, and built critical relationships.
