Sisters of Mercy Urgent Care supports the endeavors of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, South Central Community through delivery of excellent ambulatory healthcare services. Urgent Care is a category of walk-in clinic focused on the delivery of immediate care in a dedicated medical facility outside of a traditional emergency room.
Sisters of Mercy Urgent Care, Inc. dba: Mercy Urgent Care provides treatment for nonlife-threatening injuries and illnesses to the general public and industry throughout Western North Carolina. The purpose for which this Corporation is formed is the performance of religious, charitable, health and/or educational activities in accordance with the teachings and tradition of the Roman Catholic Church, the Proper Law and tradition of the South Central Community, and the laws of the State.
Frances Warde Family Health (FWFH) provided care to 316 under-served and under-insured unique patients at our primary care clinic located within our Brevard, NC Urgent Care Center. The patient visits for the year totaled 1,127 visits/ 3.57 visits per patient. FWFH provided free or reduced care to uninsured patients in the amount of $21,349 through our sliding fee, compassionate care program that is based on family's income and size which is tied to the federal poverty level. FWFH, in conjunction with Sisters of Mercy Urgent Care (SOMUC), exists to provide affordable quality care to all regardless of someone's ability to pay. Mercy Urgent Care Subsidized this program $109k for FY 19.
Sisters of Mercy Urgent Care, dba Mercy Urgent Care (MUC) provided patient care equating to 62,037 visits for FY 19 which included Worker's Comp Injury Visits, Employer Paid Services (EPS) and privately paid sick/injury patients. Our 7 MUC locations collectively provided $73,244 in free care (cost basis) through our compassionate care/charity program and wrote off $379,351 in bad debt. Of the 62,037 visits that MUC saw throughout FY 19, 14,779 or 24% were services provided for Worker's Comp and EPS to employer's in Western North Carolina. Our employer service outreach provides assistance to local employers for workplace incident management, screening and testing to assist companies to be in compliance and have a healthier workforce.
