Organizations Filed Purposes: through the Center's state budget. Provide educational and training opportunites for the benefit of the Center and community professionals as well as caregivers of persons with specialized intelletual developmental disorders and persons with specialized dementia. Promote the understanding of the general public regarding the characteristics, behaviors and needs of persons with specialized dementia.

Enhance the lives of residents of the Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Center through funds to support initiatives, activities and equipment, which cannot be supported reasonably (cont. on page 2)

CREATIVE ARTS The Black Mountain Center Foundation provides funding for the Creative/Expressive Arts Program. The Creative Arts program provides arts-based groups and individual sessions using music, dance/movement, drama, painting, sculpture, and other art modalities. Creative Expressive Arts sessions focus on residents' engagement in the process, and not on finished products. The goal is to achieve a therapeutic benefit supporting residents' strengths, while providing opportunities to express emotions safely, support wellness, and enhance quality of life.

JUST PRESS PLAY The Black Mountain Center Foundation provides funding for the Just Press Play Program. The Just Press Play program provides BMNTC models the Just Press Play program from the Music & Memory program customizing personalized playlists for BMNTC residents with neurocognitive disorders and dementia. This program helps to support the emotional well-being of our residents using intentional recorded music, with the goal of reawakening positive and meaningful memories to enrich their lives.

ARTIST FUND The Black Mountain Center Foundation provides funding for the Artist Fund. The Artist Fund provides live music offerings to the residents of BMNTC. While some of our performers are unpaid volunteers, most of our guest performers are funded via the Artist Fund. For BMNTC residents, pleasing melodies can deliver even more benefits for physical and mental health, memory and important social connections. Music plays an important role in life for people of all ages, forging connections to pivotal events and fond memories. Research has found that music can promote relaxation, improve productivity and lower stress. The goal is to provide regular opportunities to socialize, engage, and enhance quality of life. Center-wide music events provide social interactions which are the lifeblood of any thriving community.
