FAMILY SUPPORT INCLUDED FAMILY LITERACY - GED CLASSES WITH FREE CHILD CARE, TRANSPOTATION, PARENTING EDUCATION AND SUPPORT; DIAPER BANK - FREE DIAPERS TO FAMILIES IN NEED; ADOLESCENT PARENTING - SERVED PREGNANT AND PARENTING TEENS BETWEEN THE AGES OF 13 AND 19 TO SUPPORT THEM STAYING IN SCHOOL; CIRCLE OF PARENTS PROVIDED WEEKLY SUPPORT GROUPS THAT ENCOURAGE LEADERSHIP AND MUTUAL SELF HELP; INCREDIBLE YEARS PARENTING CLASS OFFERED TO PARENTS THAT FOSTERS HEALTHY DEVELOPMENT IN YOUNG CHILDREN BY FOCUSING ON STRENGTHENING PARENTING COMPETENCIES; TRIPLE P-POSITIVE PARENTING PROGRAM OFFERED ONE-ON-ONE PARENTING CONSULTATION FOR FAMILIES SEEKING HELP WITH TYPICAL CHILD BEHAVIORS; RAISING A READER AND DOLLY PARTON IMAGINATION LIBRARY PROGRAMS PROVIDED BOOKS TO CHILDREN TO ENCOURAGE PARENT/CHILD READING; NURTURED BEGINNINGS PROGRAM PROVIDED 35 FREE IN-HOME VISITS TO PARENTS OF NEWBORNS ALONG WITH RESOURCES, A FREE MEAL, AND A POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY SCREENING; MOMS FOR MOMS PERINATAL AND POSTPARTUM DISTRESS SUPPORT GROUP SERVED 17 NEW MOMS; 9 PARENTS ENROLLED IN FAMILY LITERACY/GED PROGRAM; 325 FAMILIES RECEIVED OVER 80,300 DIAPERS FROM DIAPER BANK; 35 PARENTS ATTENDED CIRCLE OF PARENTS GROUP MEETING AND REPORTED AN INCREASE IN FAMILY FUNCTIONING AND KNOWLEDGE OF PARENTING/CHILD DEVELOPMENT; 27 PARENTS ATTENDED AN INCREDIBLE YEARS CLASS SERIES AND SHOWED AN INCREASE IN APPROPRIATE DISCIPLINE, CLEAR EXPECTATIONS, AND POSITIVE PARENTING; 326 TRIPLE P (POSITIVE PARENTING PRACTICES) SESSIONS WERE CONDUCTED WITH PARENTS; 26 TEENAGE PARENTS WERE SERVED WITH THE APP PROGRAM THAT ALSO CONDUCTED 103 HOME VISITS; OVER 1,000 CHILDREN (AGES BIRTH-5 YEARS) RECEIVED HIGH QUALITY BOOKS THROUGH THE DOLLY PARTON IMAGINATION LIBRARY PROGRAM.TOTAL OF 13,188 BOOKS WERE DISTRIBUTED.
CHILD CARE AND EDUCATION QUALITY -INCLUDED PATHWAYS TO ACCREDITATION PROGRAM; RESOURCE CORNER; WAGES; BACK TO SCHOOL FESTIVAL; CHILDREN AND BABY FAIR. THE PATHWAYS TO ACCREDITATION PROGRAM WAS OFFERED TO EARLY LEARNING CENTERS AND INCLUDED HOME TRAININGS, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, AND FINANCIAL ENHANCEMENTS TO HELP CHILD CARE CENTERS INCREASE THE QUIALITY OF THEIR PROGRAMS AND THE QUALITY OF THEIR INTERACTIONS. THE RESOURCE CORNER CONTAINS AN IN-HOUSE LIBRARY OF BOOKS, MATERIALS AND HANDS-ON LEARNING KITS AS A RESOURCE FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD COLLEGE STUDENTS, CHILD CARE PROVIDERS, FAMILIES AND THE COMMUNITY. THE BACK TO SCHOOL FESTIVAL OFFERED SCHOOL SUPPLIES, BACKPACKS, CLOTHING, SHOES, AND HAIRCUTS TO ALL CHILDREN IN WATAUGA COUNTY. THE CHILDREN AND BABY FAIR WAS HELD IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE WEEK OF THE YOUNG CHILD AND OFFERED EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS FOR PARENTS, EARLY CHILDHOOD PROFESSIONALS, AND CHILDREN. 105 PARENTS CHECKED OUT MATERIAL FROM THE RESOURCE CENTER; 129 EARLY CHILDHOOD TEACHERS ATTENDED TRAININGS; 7 LICENSED CHILD CARE PROVIDERS/CENTERS RECEIVED ADDITIONAL FINANCIAL ENHANCEMENTS; 15 TEACHERS PARTICIPATED IN HIGH-QUALITY PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.
