Founded in 2011 in collaboration with leaders from the fire and EMS industry, Emergency Performance Inc., is helping local fire and EMS services to reach their potential by standardizing data collection and analysis, and assisting with its ongoing application. The organization received funding from FEMA under the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program Fire Prevention and Safey Grant in order to lead a project to produce a National Fire Operations Reporting System (N-FORS). The project has a goal of empowering local fire departments to measure and optimize their response availability, capability, effectiveness of on-scene performance, and the outcome of the event for the firefighter, citizen, and property. Emergency Performance Inc. is located in North Carolina, offering assistance to Fire Departments and EMS Agencies nationally within all 50 states and 6 territories. The stakeholder group for N-FORS consists of over 25 lead governmental and professional fire organizations and provides oversight to the project. In 2014, EPI completed the 2nd year of the three-year project finalizing the dataset, fire operations metrics, fire department performance measures, reports and software specifications. In year 3 it will develop the N-FORS software, create an implementation plan and educational materials.
