Organizations Filed Purposes:
Love Must Act builds partnerships between individuals and organizations to support education for disadvantaged students in the United States and overseas. It supports a primary school in South Africa, both financially and administratively, as well as a nursing education program in Gaza.
Holy Cross Primary School, Grahamstown/Makhanda, SA. We expanded by adding grade 5; successfully applied for and managed grants in SA directly to the school in the amount of R400,000 ($23,980) in addition to the grants from Love Must Act to the school ($104,638); increased school enrollment from 83 to 96; improved gener equality (62.6% female); included approximately 10 students with disabilities; and facilitated well over 170 medical visits. We support seven teachers and five support staff. All students receive some form of financial assistance. In addition, we managed the uncertainties of the pandemic by instituting a professional cleaning protocol, social distancing strategies, and mask and face shield policies. We were able to stay mostly open by meeting government standards when many other schools were not.
St. John Hospital Nurse Specialty Training Program; Jerusalem, Israel and Gaza City, Gaza. The first group of students completed training in spite of Covid restrictions. Remote learning was instituted. OUr efforts this year have been to search for funding resources for a future group.
