Organizations Filed Purposes:
Providing culturally relevant professional development for teachers worldwide.
Providing K-12 US teacher (local) professional development, including leadership training, mentoring, and pairing teachers with international schools. US teachers are given the opportunity to travel to developing countries where they experience another culture firsthand. The resulting encounters create relationships and insights that are carried back into US classrooms. With connections continuing online, cultural awareness is enhanced.
US Professional Development - Provided 30 K-12 US teachers high-quality professional development opportunities, including almost 40 coaching sessions and demonstration lessons and partnerships with five international schools in which US teachers co-created lesson plans, co-taught in the classroom, and often earned continuing education credits. US teachers in addition to receiving coaching and support in their own classroom have the opportunity to travel to developing countries where they experience another culture firsthand, create relationships and build educational insights that they can carry back into US classrooms. Collaborative learning creates a cultural exchange that supports a more global teaching perspective. Expert educators from our network lead all trips, so US teachers also have the opportunity to learn cutting-edge math education.
International Professional Development - Provided professional development to over 1,200 international K-12 teachers through master classes, conferences, in-classroom coaching and bespoke leadership programs such as Girls steM Club and Math Mobile. Global experts in our network alongside our local teams provided alternative ways of understanding and solving mathematical tasks allowing teachers to learn about new ways to empower their students as critical thinkers, working in teams and debating and outcomes and solutions. Our conferences and bespoke programs also provide local leadership opportunities as teachers design and facilitate workshops for their peers, often in partnership with experts.
Community Outreach In 2019, we connected with 156 new US teachers via national education conferences, presentations, mathematics workshops, social media publications, word of mouth, in person events and digital campaigns. These teachers now form part of our network and will receive our informative newsletter as well as invitations to take part in our digital and in-person professional development opportunities. We also connected with a range of new teachers and partners internationally via our end of year conference which saw a sign up of almost 200 teachers.
