Organizations Filed Purposes:
To foster and ensure a regional approach to prevent the spread of HIV and AIDS, and to meet with compassion and dignity the needs of those affected by these diseases.
The Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA)- The HOPWA MSA program served a total of 551 undupicated clients and an additional 234 family memberswith short term emergency assistance with rent, mortgage and utility payments, supportive services, end of life care, in-patient substance abuse treatment, housing information services, tenant-based rental services and facility based housing services.
The State Program covers 5 counties in NC at 24 testing sites. In FY 2020, we tested a total of 1240 individuals for HIV. 5 were found to be positive and were linked to care. We tested 272 individuals for Syphilis. 2 were found to be positive and were linked to care. We tested 178 individuals for Hep C. 56 and were found to be positive and were linked to care. Additionally, 21 HIV positive individuals who were not previously linked to care were reached and reconnected to care.
The County Homeless Supportive Services program served 34 chronically homeless, HIV positive individuals with supportive services. Supportive services includes assistance in locating, acquiring and maintaining housing with a HOPWA voucher. Clients are visited monthly and offered support in accessing medical care and other essential services to maintain housing.Goals: Increase income and stability for 30 chronically homeless, HIV + individuals. Actuals: 34 clients served, measures met.
