WE ARE A CHRISTIAN MINISTRY OF CHARITY, SERVICE AND JUSTICE DEDICATED TO PROVIDING HELP TO THOSE IN NEED, HOPE TO THOSE IN DESPAIR, AND INSPIRATION FOR OTHERS TO FOLLOW.
DIRECT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM -THE DIRECT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM PROVIDES BURIAL ASSISTANCE, FOOD ASSISTANCE, EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, AND HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE FROM OUR THREE REGIONAL OFFICES IN ASHEVILLE, CHARLOTTE, AND WINSTON-SALEM. SERVICES ARE PROVIDED TO CLIENTS IN NEED REGARDLESS OF THEIR AGE, RACE, ETHNICITY, GENDER, RELIGIOUS OR POLITICAL AFFILIATION. IN FISCAL YEAR 2019-2020, CCDOC PROVIDED DIRECT ASSISTANCE SERVICE (FINANCIAL, HOLIDAY, DISASTER RELIEF, GIFT CARD AND CLOTHING) TO 2,447 UNDUPLICATED PERSONS. 11,154 UNDUPLICATED PERSONS RECEIVED EMERGENCY FOOD ASSISTANCE. 103 PERSONS WERE SERVED THROUGH THE AGENCY BURIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM.
THE REFUGEE AND IMMIGRATION SERVICES PROGRAMS PROVIDE RESETTLEMENT AND IMMIGRATION SERVICES. THE RRO PROGRAM ADMINISTERS THE RECEPTION AND PLACEMENT (R&P) PROGRAM THROUGH ITS AFFILIATION WITH THE US CONFERENCE OF CATHOLIC BISHOPS/MIGRATION AND REFUGEE SERVICES (USCCB/MRS). THE CCDOC HAS RESETTLED 144 REFUGEES DURING THE 2019-20 FISCAL YEAR AND PROVIDED EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE FOR MORE THAN 50 CLIENTS. THE IMMIGRATION SERVICES PROGRAM IS RECOGNIZED BY THE BOARD OF IMMIGRATION APPEALS. OUR IMMIGRATION PROGRAM PROVIDED 453 SERVICES TO 310 CLIENTS BETWEEN THREE OFFICE LOCATIONS DURING THE 2019-20 FISCAL YEAR.
TRANSLATION AND INTERPRETATION ENTERPRISE (TIE) IS A SOCIAL ENTERPRISE THAT COUPLES STRONG BUSINESS PRACTICES WITH AGENCY PROGRAM GOALS TO: 1) REDUCE POVERTY BY PROVIDING INCOME-PRODUCING PATHWAYS FOR PEOPLE WITH BARRIERS TO EMPLOYMENT; AND 2) PROVIDE VULNERABLE PEOPLE THE ABILITY TO ACCESS COMMUNITY SERVICES IN THEIR NATIVE LANGUAGE. RATHER THAN A FIRST LANGUAGE OTHER THAN ENGLISH BEING A BARRIER TO GAINFUL EMPLOYMENT, THROUGH TRAINING, CERTIFICATION, AND ONGOING SUPPORT, NON-NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKERS ARE ABLE TO EARN VALUABLE HOUSEHOLD INCOME BY UTILIZING THEIR BILINGUAL SKILLS TO PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL TRANSLATION AND INTERPRETATION SERVICES IN A VARIETY OF SETTINGS. AS A SOCIAL ENTERPRISE, ANY FUNDS GENERATED FROM TIE ARE USED TO SUPPORT FURTHER OUTREACH TO VULNERABLE POPULATIONS.
