Organizations Filed Purposes: THROUGH THE INVESTMENT OF TIME, TALENTS, AND TREASURE, THE CHARLOTTE HORNETS FOUNDATION WILL SUPPORT, PROMOTE, AND ENHANCE IMPORTANT COMMUNITY EFFORTS THAT ENRICH THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR THOSE IN NEED, ESPECIALLY CHILDREN AND YOUTH IN THE CHARLOTTE AREA. THE FOUNDATION WILL SUPPORT ELIGIBLE 501(C)(3) ORGANIZATIONS THAT DELIVER PROGRAMS THAT IMPACT LITERACY AND EDUCATION, FITNESS AND WELLNESS, AND HUNGER.

THE FOUNDATION SUPPORTS THE ENRICHMENT OF THOSE IN NEED, ESPECIALLY CHILDREN, IN THE CHARLOTTE AREA THROUGH COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND SUPPORTING OTHER ORGS WITH SIMILAR GOALS.

ACTIVITIES GENERALLY, THE FOUNDATION USED ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH THE PLAYERS, COACHES, AND MANAGEMENT OF THE CHARLOTTE HORNETS NBA TEAM AS A PLATFORM TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF LITERACY, EDUCATION, HEALTH AND FITNESS, MILITARY CARE AND HUNGER. THE FOUNDATION HOSTED THE MY HERO GALA TO RAISE MONEY FOR TWO CAUSES. HALF OF THE NET PROCEEDS FROM THE EVENT WENT TO SUPPORT THE CHARLOTTE HORNETS FOUNDATION WHILE THE OTHER HALF OF THE NET PROCEEDS WENT TO SUPPORT THE NOVANT HEALTH FOUNDATION'S COMMUNITY CARE CRUISER. THE COMMUNITY CARE CRUISER IS A 40-FOOT MOBILE CLINIC THAT PROVIDES IMMUNIZATIONS AND OTHER CLINICAL MEDICAL SERVICES TO THE UNINSURED AND UNDERINSURED CHILDREN IN THE GREATER CHARLOTTE AREA. GRANT MAKING GRANT MAKING WAS THE FOUNDATION'S WAY OF DEMONSTRATING AND DISPLAYING THE FOUNDATION'S COMMITMENT TO THE PRIORITIES OF THE ORGANIZATION AND COMMUNITY IT SERVES. THE FOUNDATION USES ITS COMMUNITY CONTACTS TO IDENTIFY PROGRAMS THAT HAVE THE LARGEST IMPACT TO THE FOUNDATION'S MISSION. GRANTS TO CHILD CARE RESOURCES INC., CROSSROADS CORPORATION, FREEDOM SCHOOL PARTNERS AND THE CHARLOTTE MECKLENBURG LIBRARY FOUNDATION ACCOMPLISHED THAT OBJECTIVE. EDUCATION Education is a priority area for the foundation. Promotional campaigns such as billboards, in-arena public services announcements, as well as community public services announcements, posters, and informational literature were developed using players and coaches of the Charlotte Hornets, as well as community leaders as spokespersons to raise community awareness about literacy.

THE FOUNDATION HAS CREATED AN EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR STUDENTS SHOWING ACADEMIC PROMISE BUT WHO HAVE INSUFFICIENT RESOURCES TO FUND THEIR COLLEGE AMBITIONS. THE SCHOLARSHIP WAS CREATED WITH FUNDING PROVIDED BY THE CHARLOTTE HORNETS BASKETBALL TEAM PLAYERS AND OTHER FOUNDATION FUNDRAISING EFFORTS. THIS INITIATIVE IS A RESPONSE TO RECENT CIVIL UNREST IN CHARLOTTE, NC IN AN EFFORT TO GIVE BACK TO THE LOCAL COMMUNITY AND SUPPORT YOUTH AND EDUCATION. Scholarships are paid in part to other organization scholarship funds and in part to directly fund individual scholarship recipients who meet the foundation's criteria.

TICKET FOR KIDS PROGRAM: THE TICKET FOR KIDS PROGRAM ALLOWS CHILDREN AND YOUTH TO ATTEND NBA BASKETBALL GAMES FOR THE CHARLOTTE HORNETS. THESE CHILDREN WOULD PROBABLY OTHERWISE NOT HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND A GAME. THE FOUNDATION RECEIVES DONATED TICKETS FROM THE PUBLIC AND DISTRIBUTES THEM TO VARIOUS 501(C)(3) ORGANIZATIONS IN THE CHARLOTTE REGION.
