The organization stands for every pet and pet owner by making the highest quality veterinary care and spay neuter services affordable and accessible, with the goal of reducing the number of dogs and cats euthanized in regional shelters and creating a community without homeless pets.
In 2019 Stand for Animals continued to execute on the mission to make affordable spay neuter and veterinary care accessible to pet owners living in our region. During 2019 the clinics fixed 12,485 dogs and cats and as a result continued to see a decrease in the number of deaths in local shelters. Building capacity for veterinary services was also a priority during 2019. Additional diagnostic equipment was purchased for the Pineville and Lake Norman clinics to enable each to offer more comprehensive care. The number of veterinarians in our practice increased to elven but demand for our services cntinues to exceed our capacity. Proceeds from the 2019 community fundraiser "So You Think You Can Bark" were designated again this year to the Medical Assistance Fund which made it possible to offer clients with limited financial resources the opportunity to provide care and treatment for their pets. In 2019 the fund provided more than 967 clients with a small subsidy totalling more than $25,000. The clinic also continued to make extended payment options available to clients who just need more time to pay their invoice and over the course of the year financed more than $41,000 in these plans. Our dominant staff continues to be operating our business with high quality, efficient care. Internally we also made communication a high priority. We saw improvements across the clinic system as a result of this investment.
