Organizations Filed Purposes:
To provide scholarship and mentoring support for female undergraduate students who are pursuing higher education as a way to improve their lives.
Women Initiating and Nurturing Growth through Scholarships (WINGS) is a scholarship program for non-traditional female students at Charlotte area universities. Scholarships are awarded to students at five area colleges to assist with tuition, transportation, childcare and other expenses. Candidates are identified by the colleges and then chosen through a competitive application and interview process administered by Women Executives for Community Service(WECS). Each year we support a number of scholars.
Scholar Development Seminars and Networking Events As part of the scholar development services provided to the scholarship recipients as they progress through their college education, we offer mentoring in addition to scholar development seminars and networking events each year to educate and support scholars development and growth. In addition to the scholar development services, we provide laptops and software for each incoming scholar.
