River Protection Program: Raised awareness of environmental concerns facing the Yadkin Pee Dee River Basin with the general public and engaged citizens in on the water activities to preserve and protect the river basin. Engaged over 1200 citizens through presentations and volunteer opportunities. Increased public awareness of ecotourism opportunities throughout the Yadkin River Basin. More than 275 people participated in Tour de Yadkin, which involved paddling the Yadkin River with the Yadkin Riverkeeper.
Operation Medicine Cabinet: Collaborated with SafeKids NC, the State Bureau of Investigation, and the Drug Enforcement Agency to raise awareness of the harmful practice of pharmaceutical flushing/dumping. Coordinated mutiple pharmaceutical "Take-Back" events for the disposal of unused medicines. Collected and disposed of 3,878 pounds (1,939,000 doses) of pharmaceuticals.
