CHILD CARE & EDUCATION QUALITY: INCLUDES CHILD CARE RESOURCE AND REFERRAL (CCR&R),QUALITY ENHANCEMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY, INDIVIDUAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, AND WAGE$ SUPPLEMENT. WITH SUPPORT FROM CCR&R 114 LOCAL TRAININGS/WORKSHOPS WERE HELD AND 1189 CHILD CARE PROVIDERS PARTICIPATED. FOUR QUARTERLY DIRECTORS' EDUCATION FORUMS WERE HELD. TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TARGETING HEALTH, NUTRITION, SANITATION AND SAFETY, ENVIRONMENTAL RATING SCALES AND GENERAL LICENSURE WAS PROVIDED TO 82 CHILD CARE FACILITIES ON AN ONGOING BASIS; FINANCIAL INCENTIVE AWARDS WERE GIVEN TO 54 FULL-TIME CHILD CARE TEACHERS IN 27 FACILITIES FOR EARNING COLLEGE CREDIT DURING SUMMER, FALL AND SPRING SEMESTERS. A WAGE$ SUPPLEMENT WAS PROVIDED TO 67 PARTICIPANTS; THESE PARTICIPANTS WORKED IN 35 DIFFERENT CHILD CARE PROGRAMS, SERVING 1973 CHILDREN.
FAMILY SUPPORT:INCLUDES COMMUNITY OUTREACH, REACH OUT & READ, LINCOLN COUNTY CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER AND POSITIVE PARENTING (TRIPLE P) PROGRAM. A TOTAL OF 6705 FREE BOOKS WERE GIVEN TO YOUNG CHILDREN THROUGH THE PARTNERSHIPS EARLY LITERACY PROGRAMS AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH EVENTS. A FULL TIME PARENT EDUCATOR UTILIZED TRIPLE P RESOURCES DURING INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP PARENTING SUPPORT (39 PARTICIPANTS) AND INTENSIVE COURT-ORDERED PARENTING GROUP SESSION (41 PARTICIPANTS) TO MODEL DEVELOPMENTALLY APPROPRIATE PARENTING PRACTICES THAT SUPPORT POSITIVE PARENT/CHILD INTERACTIONS. THE CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER UTILIZED A FORENSIC INTERVIEWER AS PART OF CULTURALLY COMPETENT, MULTIDISCIPLINARY TEAM PROVIDING CARE TO CHILD VICTIMS AND THEIR NON-OFFENDING CAREGIVERS (80). A TOTAL OF 160 PARENTS/CAREGIVERS RECEIVED SUPPORT AND SERVICES THROUGH THESE FAMILY SUPPORT PROGRAMS.
NC PRE-K: PROVIDERS COMMUNITY-BASED, HIGH QUALITY EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES TO ENHANCE SCHOOL READINESS FOR AT RISK, ELIGIBLE 4-YEAR OLD CHILDREN. CHILDREN MAY BE SERVED IN CLASSROOMS IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS, PRIVATE CHILD CARE CENTERS OR HEAD START PROGRAMS. RISK IS DETERMINED BY PARENT'S INCOME, IDENTIFIED DISABILITY, CHRONIC HEALTH CONDITION, DEVELOPMENTAL OR EDUCATIONAL NEED OR LIMITED ENGLISH PROFIENCY. 318 CHILDREN WERE SERVED IN THE LINCOLN COUNTY NC PRE-K PROGRAM, WITH 27 EXITING DURING THE YEAR.
