DAC PROVIDED SECTOR- WIDE ARTS ADVOCACY & ARTS SECTOR ECONOMIC SUPPORT OF 1,765,350, INCLUDING 383,368 IN ARTS FACILITY GRANTS, 205,385 IN CASH GRANTS; 1,176,596 IN ARTS TEACHING & PERFORMANCE & ARTS MANAGEMENT JOBS.
ARTS EDUCATION PROGRAMS- DAC'S ARTS CENTER SCHOOL PROVIDED ARTS EDUCATION THROUGH 511 CLASSES FOR 5,613 YOUTH AND ADULTS IN VISUAL, PERFORMING & LITERARY ARTS PLUS 10 WEEKS OF YOUTH ARTS CAMPS. CLASS ENROLLMENT DECREASED 20% VS. FY19 DUE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC CLOSURE FOR 4TH QUARTER 2020. THE DAC CREATIVE ARTS IN THE PUBLIC/PRIVATE SCHOOLS PROGRAM (CAPS) PROVIDED 290 ARTS RESIDENCY PROGRAMS TO 19,618 STUDENTS AT 87 SITES IN DURHAM, ORANGE, GRANVILLE, CHATHAM AND PERSON COUNTIES. STUDENTS SERVED DROPPED 29% DUE TO COVID PANDEMIC. CAPS PROVIDES CURRICULUM-BASED ARTS RESIDENCIES, PERFORMANCES AND WORKSHOPS. DAC SCHOOLS & CAPS PROGRAMS COMBINED PROVIDED 801 CONTRACT JOBS THAT PAID 251,730 TO TEACHING ARTISTS IN FY20.
ARTS PROGRAM FACILITY SUPPORT SERVICES- DAC MANAGES AND PROGRAMS THE HISTORIC DAC ARTS CENTER BUILDING AS A PREMIER VENUE FOR ARTISTS, ARTS ORGANIZATIONS, AND COMMUNITY GROUPS IN DOWNTOWN DURHAM. DAC PROGRAMS ITS EXHIBITION GALLERIES, THEATRES, REHEARSAL SPACES, STUDIOS AND CLASSROOMS FOR THE ARTS COMMUNITY AND PUBLIC 7 DAYS A WEEK. DAC IS THE 4TH MOST VISITED FACILITY IN DOWNTOWN DURHAM. IN FY 2019, DAC BUILDING AND ARTS EVENTS ATTRACTED ATTENDANCE OF 413,234. IN FY19 DAC HOSTED 5,028 EVENTS AND PROGRAMS IN THE DAC BUILDING AND AMANGED 26,127 HOURS OF FACILITY USE IN FY19. FY20 ATTENDANE DECLINED TO 295,692 DUE TO COVID-19 IMPACT IN 4TH QUARTER, WITH 18,900 HOURS OF FACILITY USE & 3,651 EVENTS/PROGRAMS. 95% EVENTS/PROGRAMS IN BUILDING ARE ARTS/CULTURAL.
