To empower women with major economic and individual challenges to self-sufficiency to succeed personally and professionally through gender-responsive programs and services
Nueva Vida Program: Program Objective - To provide high quality services that address the economic independence and self-sufficiency of Latinx victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking. Accomplishments - A total of the 117 clients were served in 2020. All received employment counseling, guidance and information about the rights of immigrant workers and crime victims. Approximately 70% of the clients served also received employability skills training via a four hour workshop. Only 41% of the 54 clients who required job placement assistance gained new or upgraded employment or became self-employed while in the program. Approximately 67% of the clients served received additional coordinated services from one or more of the program's 26 community referral partners.
Immigration Legal Services Program: Program Objective - To provide quality, no or low-cost immigration legal services to low-income immigrants. Accomplishments: InStepp assisted 174 low-income immigrants with applications for alien relative petitions, adjustment of status, DACA renewals, green card renewals, VAWA self-petitions, U Visas, hardship waivers, consular processing and nonimmigrant visas. Approximately 25% of the total clients served received pro bono services.
Citizenship Instruction & Naturalization Program: Program Objective - To provide free citizenship instruction classes and naturalization application services to help Legal Permanent Residents pass the naturalization interview test. Accomplishments - InStepp offered a total of eight free online or in-person 10-week citizenship classes to immigrants in the local community and assisted 71 immigrants with naturalization applications.
