Organizations Filed Purposes:
TO PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AND SERVICES TO AT-RISK, UNDERSERVED, AND DISADVANTAGED YOUTH, THEIR FAMILIES, AND ORGANIZATIONS AND INSTITUTIONS THAT WORK WITH THEM.
THE UPWARD BOUND PROGRAM PROVIDES FUNDAMENTAL SUPPORT TO PARTICIPANTS IN THEIR PREPARATION FOR COLLEGE ENTRANCE. THE PROGRAM PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARTICIPANTS TO SUCCEED IN THEIR PRE-COLLEGE PERFORMANCE AND ULTIMATELY IN THEIR HIGHER EDUCATION PURSUITS. PROGRAM SERVICES AND ACTIVITIES INCLUDE: ACADEMIC TUTORING, EDUCATION AND COUNSELING SERVICES, ASSISTANCE IN COMPLETING COLLEGE ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS AND APPLICATIONS, INFORMATION ON FEDERAL STUDENT FINANCIAL AID PROGRAMS AND BENEFITS, EXPOSURE TO CULTURAL EVENTS AND OTHER ACADEMIC PROGRAMS, AND SUMMER PROGRAMS.
THE TRIO TRAINING PROJECT SUPPORTS THE NEEDS OF STAFF WORKING IN OR PREPARING TO WORK IN TRIO PROGRAMS. THE TRAINING PROJECT PROVIDES PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR TRIO STAFF IN THE AREA OF RECORDKEEPING, REPORTING OF STUDENT AND PROJECT PERFORMANCE, AND THE RIGOROUS EVALUATION OF PROJECT PERFORMANCE (PRIORITY ONE); THE PROJECT ALSO PROVIDES MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES TO NEW DIRECTORS (PRIORITY SIX). TRAINING OFFERINGS ARE DESIGNED TO INCREASE THE KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND RESOURCES OF TRIO PROFESSIONALS TO OPERATE A MODEL PROGRAM. PROGRAM SERVICES INCLUDE TRAINING SEMINARS, WEBINARS, COACHING PROGRAMS, AND A TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE CLINIC.
THE TALENT SEARCH PROGRAM IDENTIFIES AND ASSISTS INDIVIDUALS FROM DISADVANTAGED BACKGROUNDS WHO HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO SUCCEED IN THEIR HIGHER EDUCATION. THE PROGRAM AIMS TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF INDIVIDUALS WHO COMPLETE HIGH SCHOOL AND ENROLL IN AND COMPLETE POSTSECONDARY EDUCATION. SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE PROGRAM INCLUDE: ACADEMIC, FINANCIAL, CAREER, OR PERSONAL COUNSELING INCLUDING ADVICE ON ENTRY OR RE-ENTRY TO SECONDARY OR POSTSECONDARY PROGRAMS, CAREER EXPLORATION AND APTITUDE ASSESSMENT, TUTORIAL SERVICES, INFORMATION ON POSTSECONDARY EDUCATION AND EXPOSURE TO COLLEGE CAMPUSES.
