Organizations Filed Purposes:
Sheriffs for Trusting Communities will work with partner organizations to: Build a collective vision for an alternative role of the Sheriff. Make sure every person in the country knows where their Sheriff stands; Elect a wave of Sheriffs who share that vision; Hold new Sheriffs accountable for their promises and challenge long time sheriffs to follow their lead.
Program 1) Supported grassroots organizations in helping their communities understand county sheriffs, and build a different vision for safety, with fewer deportations and an end to mass incarceration.
Program 2) Built national narrative to increase media coverage on the role of the sheriff.
Program 3) Supported rapid response campaigns encouraging decarceration during the Covid Pandemic and divestment as part of the movement to reform police.
