FOUNDED IN 2002, THE SOUTHERN DOCUMENTARY FUND IS A NONPROFIT ARTS ORGANIZATION THAT CULTIVATES DOCUMENTARIES MADE IN OR ABOUT THE AMERICAN SOUTH. INSPIRED BY OUR CORE BELIEF THAT DOCUMENTARIES HAVE THE POWER TO CHANGE LIVES, SDF SERVICES AS A LEADING ADVOCATE FOR
ARTIST SERVICES: FISCAL SPONSORSHIP IS CRITICAL TO THE DOCUMENTARY FILMMAKING PROCESS. SDF CURRENTLY SPONSORS MORE THAN 80 DOCUMENTARY PROJECTS, AND WE HELP FILMMAKERS MARSHAL RESOURCES THROUGH GRANTS, INDIVIDUAL CONTRIBUTIONS, AND CROWD FUNDING. SPONSORED PROJECTS RECEIVE VALUABLE BENEFITS, INCLUDING PRO BONO CONSULTATIONS WITH LEGAL, DISTRIBUTION, AND OUTREACH PROFESSIONALS. BECAUSE WE SERVE AN UNDER-RECOURCED FILMMAKING COMMUNITY. WE STRIVE TO KEEP OUR SPONSORSHIP RATE AT VERY AFFORDABLE 5%.
