Organizations Filed Purposes:
The mission of the Damascus Outreach Association (DOA) STEM Initiative is to provide rural low income at-risk elementary and middle school aged youth (K-8th), from Gates Schools, with a high quality learning. Additionally, Damascus seeks to provide quality housing services to low income and senior citizens within northeastern North Carolina region through acquisition, rehab/renovation to help improve quality of life in the county.
We did a 'hybrid summer camp' that we called 'Summer Camp on Wheels!" It consisted of us doing daily instructional packets that contained lessons,and activities for the students based on their grade level and assessed academic need. We would drop off the packets, along with a snack and drink each day, and ,then hold virtual classes / instructions that aligned with the packets that were dropped off at the students homes.
