Macon County Care Network has 3 main programs that provide supplemental food for the residents of Macon County. The BackPack Program, the Soup Cafe' and the Food Pantry are vital programs that serve children and families who are food insecure. THE BACKPACK PROGRAM: The BackPack Program is a food resource for children identified as "food insecure" for over the weekend when they might not get a meal. The program distributed 15,554 backpacks of food to children in our county school system during the calendar year of 2019.
THE SOUP CAFE': The Soup Cafe' provides a hot lunch Monday-Friday to our clients and the homeless in our county. During the calendar year 2019 the Soup Cafe' served 5,539 hot meals.
THE FOOD PANTRY: The Food Pantry is a supplemental food resource for low-income families and the homeless. Qualified individuals are able to shop in the food pantry to help supplement their nutritional needs. During the calendar year of 2019 the food pantry distributed 305,491 pounds of food to people in need in Macon County.
