THE ALAMANCE COMMUNITY AND HEALTH FOUNDATION'S (DBA, IMPACT ALAMANCE) MISSION IS TO STRATEGICALLY INVEST IN OUR COMMUNITY FOR HOPE, HEALTH AND PROSPERITY. TO FULFILL THAT MISSION, WE SEEK TO BRING THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER FOR HEALTHY CHANGE. WE BELIEVE THAT BY WORKING TOGETHER, WE CAN BUILD A STRONGER, MORE PROSPEROUS FUTURE FOR US ALL. AS A FOUNDATION, OUR GOAL IS TO MAKE INVESTMENTS IN OUR COMMUNITY THAT WILL CREATE LASTING, SUSTAINABLE CHANGE IN ALAMANCE COUNTY. IMPACT ALAMANCE FOCUSES ITS COMMUNITY INVESTMENTS IN THREE STRATEGIC AREAS DESIGNED TO CREATE THIS CHANGE; ADVOCATING AND CREATING SYSTEMS FOR ALL CHILDREN TO THRIVE FROM CRADLE TO CAREER, BUILDING HEALTHY ENVIRONMENTS THAT MAKE THE HEALTHY CHOICE THE EASY CHOICE AND SUPPORTING OUR NON-PROFITS THAT HELP CREATE A STRONG GRID OF RESOURCES FOR OUR ENTIRE COMMUNITY. IMPACT ALAMANCE IS A PROUD PART OF THE CONE HEALTH NETWORK FOR EXCEPTIONAL CARE. AS A SUPPORTING ORGANIZATION OF ALAMANCE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER, OUR INVESTMENTS ARE
The foundation is designed to improve the health of the community while being an extension of the care that is provided at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
Healthy Kids: MUCH LIKE A CONSTRUCTION PROCESS, BUILDING HEALTHY BRAINS STARTS WITH A STRONG FOUNDATION. IMPACT ALAMANCE WORKS TO ENSURE THAT KIDS HAVE WHAT THEY NEED TO GET A STRONG START IN LIFE. IN 2019, IMPACT ALAMANCE INVESTMENTS CENTERED AROUND GETTNG KIDS READY FOR KINDERGARTEN AND BUILDING HEALTHY COMMUNITY ENVIRONMENTS. THESE FUNDS INCREASED ACCESS TO PHYSICAL ACTIVITY FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES, INCLUDING INVESTING IN OUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PLAYGROUNDS. WITH PUBLIC SCHOOLS BEING ONE OF OUR GREATEST COMMUNITY RESOURCES, THIS INVESTMENT HAS ALLOWED FOR MORE THAN 40% OF OUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS TO RECEIVE NEW, SAFE PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT. THESE INVESTMENTS AIM TO MAKE THE HEALTHY CHOICE THE EASY CHOICE FOR THOSE WHO LIVE IN ALAMANCE COUNTY. IN ADDITION TO CREATING INFRASTRUCTURE THROUGH TRAILS, BIKE PATHS AND GREENWAYS, IT ALSO FOCUSED ON ADVOCACY WORK. A COUNTY-WIDE COMMUNITY USE POLICY PASSED THAT OPENED ALL SCHOOL PLAYGROUNDS TO CHILDREN AND FAMILIES OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL HOURS. ONE OF THE FIRST IN THE STATE, THIS POLICY ENSURES THAT ALL CHILDREN HAVE MORE OPPORTUNITIES TO PLUG IN AND CHARGE UP THEIR LEARNING THROUGH INCREASED ACCESS TO PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND ACTIVE PLAY.
COMMUNITY HEALTH FUND: IMPACT ALAMANCE PROVIDES A LIMITED NUMBER OF GRANT OPPORTUNITIES TO MEET COMMUNITY HEALTH NEEDS OUTSIDE OF ITS PRIORITY AREAS. THE GOAL OF THE COMMUNITY HEALTH FUND IS TO PARTNER WITH NON-PROFIT AGENCIES TO FOSTER CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION THROUGH ONE-TIME AWARDS TO IMPLEMENT OR EXPAND NEW IDEAS. THESE FUNDS ARE INVESTED IN PROJECTS THAT ALIGN WITH THE PRIORITIES IDENTIFIED WITHIN THE COMMUNITY HEALTH NEEDS ASSESSMENT. IN FY 2019, IMPACT ALAMANCE INVESTED IN FIVE INITIATIVES, FOCUSING ON ACCESS TO CARE, EDUCATION, OR ECONOMY.
HEALTHY COMMUNITY: A HEALTHY COMMUNITY IS ONE WHERE RESIDENTS ARE PHYSICALLY AND EMOTIONALLY HEALTHY, AND ABLE TO ENERGETICALLY CONTRIBUTE TO THEIR COMMUNITY'S CIVIC LIFE AND ECONOMIC WELLBEING. THAT'S THE VISION WE HAVE FOR ALAMANCE COUNTY. IMPACT ALAMANCE IS FOCUSED ON CREATING AN ENVIRONMENT WHERE BUSINESSES, GOVERNMENT AGENCIES, COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS AND NEIGHBORS WORK TOGETHER TO CREATE A HEALTHIER COMMUNITY. WE BELIEVE THAT CREATING A HEALTHIER COMMUNITY IS A MISSION THAT NO SINGLE PERSON, ORGANIZATION OR AGENCY CAN DO ALONE. WE MUST ALL WORK TOGETHER. IN FISCAL YEAR 18, IMPACT ALAMANCE INVESTED NEARLY A MILLION DOLLARS TO SUPPORT THAT PART OF OUR COMMON VISION FOR THE COMMUNITY. TO THIS END, INVESTMENTS IN THIS AREA ARE FOCUSED ON EDUCATION AS THE KEY SOCIAL DETERMINANT OF HEALTH. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT PROVIDING HIGH QUALITY EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES WILL LEAD TO A GREATER CHANCE OF PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL HEALTH OUTCOMES FOR THE COMMUNITY. WE'RE PARTNERING WITH NATIONAL LEADERS STRIVETOGETHER, AND ARE WORKING TO SEE THAT ALL CHILDREN, REGARDLESS OF THEIR ZIP CODE, HAVE AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY FOR SUCCESS FROM CRADLE TO CAREER. IN FISCAL YEAR 18, LOCAL EDUCATION INITIATIVE, ALAMANCE ACHIEVES, WAS FULLY STAFFED AND BEGAN WORK ON ITS FIRST COMMUNITY FOCUS, GETTING CHILDREN READY FOR KINDERGARTEN. ADDITIONALLY, INVESTMENTS IN PUBLIC EDUCATION WERE MADE TOWARDS A TEACHER LEADERSHIP ACADEMY AND CREATIVITY GRANTS, PROVIDING TEACHERS WITH THE SCAFFOLDING THEY NEED TO DELIVER THE BEST INSTRUCTIONAL OPPORTUNITIES IN THE CLASSROOM. THE CREATIVITY GRANTS PROVIDE FUNDS FOR TEACHERS TO IMPLEMENT NEW INNOVATIVE INITIATIVES IN THEIR CLASSROOMS AND SCHOOLS. AND, IN ORDER FOR THE COMMUNITY TO TRULY THRIVE, NONPROFITS NEED TO BE STRONG COMMUNITY RESOURCES. IMPACT ALAMANCE ALSO INVESTS IN OUR NON-PROFITS THROUGH THIS FUND. BY STRENGTHENING LEADERSHIP AND GOVERNANCE THROUGH CAPACITY BUILDING, THEIR ORGANIZATIONS ARE BETTER ABLE TO SERVE THEIR CLIENTS, CREATING A HEALTHIER COMMUNITY.
