HENDERSON COUNTY FREE MEDICAL CLINIC, INC. D/B/A THE FREE CLINICS (A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION) WAS ESTABLISHED TO ENHANCE THE HEALTH CARE SYSTEM IN HENDERSON COUNTY AND NEIGHBORING COMMUNITIES TO ENSURE THE ACCESSIBILITY OF QUALITY HEALTHCARE FOR UNINSURED, LOW-INCOME CLIENTS. THE FREE CLINICS WORKS WITH VOLUNTEERS AND PARTNERING HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS TO PROVIDE HEALTHCARE, PREVENTION, EDUCATION, MEDICATION ACCESS, AND CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES, INCLUDING SPECIALTY REFERRALS. THE FREE CLINICS CURRENTLY OFFERS 22 PROGRAMS IN FIVE AREAS: ACUTE CARE - MEDICAL CLINIC. SPECIALTY AND CHRONIC CARE - ENDOCRINOLOGY AND EYE CLINICS, BRIDGES TO HEALTH, COMMUNITY CASE MANAGEMENT, DIABETES AND PHOENIX PROGRAMS BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CARE - COUNSELING, DETENTION CLINICIAN, NALAXONE, POST-OVERDOSE RESPONSE TEAM (PORT), COUNSELING, AND PSYCHIATRIC CLINIC. COMMUNITY HEALTH - BIKES FOR LIFE, COMMUNITY GARDEN, DIABETES EDUCATION, FLU SHOT CLINICS, PATIENT HEALTH ADVOCACY (COMMUNITY AND DETENTION), AND WELLNESS SCREENINGS. PHARMACEUTICAL SUPPORT - COMMUNITY PHARMACY, MEDI-FIND PRESCRIPTION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM, AND MEDICATION THERAPY MANAGEMENT. THE FREE CLINICS REPORTED THE FOLLOWING ACCOMPLISHMENTS DURING THE 2019- 2020 FISCAL YEAR: THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDED 48,611 PATIENT ENCOUNTERS DURING THE YEAR AND FILLED 15,723 PRESCRIPTIONS THROUGH THE COMMUNITY PHARMACY, INCLUDING 2,103 THROUGH PRESCRIPTION ASSISTANCE. THESE SERVICES WERE PROVIDED BY 208 ACTIVE VOLUNTEERS WHO CONTRIBUTED MORE THAN 4,600 VOLUNTEER HOURS. THE ORGANIZATION WAS ABLE TO MAKE 192 REFERRALS TO SPECIALISTS WHO GENEROUSLY PROVIDED FREE CARE AND TO ARRANGE 37 SURGICAL PROCEDURES ON BEHALF OF PATIENTS. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES A PLACE FOR LOW-INCOME, UNINSURED RESIDENTS TO RECEIVE CARE AND LESSEN THE FINANCIAL BURDEN FOR LOCAL HOSPITAL EMERGENCY DEPARTMENTS. DURING THE YEAR THE ESTIMATED VALUE OF CARE PROVIDED TO PATIENTS WAS 10,200,000.
