Organizations Filed Purposes:
Overture International mission is to empower families in Haiti living in extreme poverty through sustainable social, community and economic development.
ESPWA Child Development Center: In June 2020, Overture assumed the financial sponsorship of ESPWA in Southern Haiti, providing vital educational programs for children and support for their families with the ultimate goal of keeping the family unit together. Scholarships are provided to offset or completely cover the cost of tuition for children, including supplies, books, uniforms, and a nutritious lunch. During 2020, 420,000 hot lunches were served to students; 1090 full or partial scholarships were provided; 50 students attended after school programs; and 252 children were reunited with their families.
Social Development Programs: Overture's Social Development programs focus on child development, family strengthening, and community resources that provide protections and supports for children and families. During 2020, 40+ youth in prison received social supports; 38 communities received child protection training; 225 families attended our Family Preservation Program that offers counseling, workshops, business training, and education support for children; and 55 families were providing with farming support.
Community & Economic Development Programs: Overture's Community & Economic Development programs work directly with community members in assessing their own problems, identifying their own resources and developing their own solutions. Programs provide job opportunities, hands-on training, and grow the local economy. We incubate new enterprises through hands-on experience, business training, and start-up capital, in collaboration with local businesses and partners. During 2020, 200+ Haitian community members were provided access to employment; 60 farmers were provided with use of farm land; 21 new homes were built; 173,000 meals were distributed to vulnerable communities. Additionally, 125 Haitians were provided employment with ESPWA and Overture; 6 investments were made in family business plans, 5 investments were made in youth's business plans; and 32 youth attended our Young Adult Empowerment Programs.
