TO PREPARE CHILDREN FOR SUCCESS BY PROVIDING RESOURCES TO FAMILIES AND THE COMMUNITY
CHILD CARE AND EDUCATION QUALITY - THE PARTNERSHIP WORKED WITH MORE THAN 20 PUBLIC AND PRIVATE AGENCIES TO IMPLEMENT PROGRAMS TO IMPROVE THE LIVES OF SCOTLAND COUNTY'S CHILDREN AND FAMILIES. OVER 43 VOLUNTEER HOURS WERE DONATED BY COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO THE PARTNERSHIP AND ITS PROGRAMS. 10 CHILD CARE PROVIDERS RECEIVED EDUCATIONAL INCENTIVES FOR COMPLETING SEMESTER HOURS OF COLLEGE CREDIT OR COMPLETING A DEGREE. THE NUMBER OF CHILD CARE TEACHERS WITH AN ASSOCIATES OR BACHELORS DEGREE IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION HAS GROWN MORE THAN 10 TIMES SINCE 2001. OVER 67 CHILDREN HAVE BEEN IMPACTED BY SMART START EFFORTS TO INCREASE THE QUALITY OF THEIR EARLY CHILDHOOD ENVIRONMENT. SINCE 2002, THE PARTNERSHIP HAS HELPED TO RAISE THE MEDIAN WAGE OF A CHILD CARE PROVIDER WITH AN ASSOCIATES DEGREE FROM 6.41 TO 10.00. SINCE 2001, SCOTLAND COUNTY'S CHILD CARE CENTERS OFFERING SICK LEAVE BENEFITS TO THEIR EMPLOYEES INCREASED FROM 39% TO 74%. 84% OF SCOTLAND COUNTY'S CHILD CARE FACILITIES HAVE A LICENSE OF 3 OR MORE STARS.
FAMILY SUPPORT - SINCE 1999 THE PARTNERSHIP HAS LEVERAGED MORE THAN 1,961,653 IN PRIVATE SUPPORT FOR SERVICES TO YOUNG CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES. 100% OF PARENTS PARTICIPATING IN FAMILY SUPPORT PROGRAMS DEMONSTRATED AN INCREASE IN ENGAGING IN LITERACY ACTIVITIES WITH THEIR CHILDREN 4 OR MORE TIMES A WEEK. DURING FISCAL YEAR 2019-2020, 14 PRE-TEEN AND TEEN MOTHERS RECEIVED CHILD CARE TO ASSIST THEM IN REMAINING IN SCHOOL SO THEY COULD RECEIVE A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR COLLEGE DEGREE.
PROGRAM SUPPORT - PROGRAM MANAGEMENT ACTIVITIES ARE CONDUCTED TO ENSURE PROGRAM AND FISCAL ACCOUNTABILITY, INCLUDING FISCAL AND PROGRAMMATIC MONITORING OF ALL FUNDED PROJECTS, AS WELL AS THE ONGOING COORDINATION OF PROJECTS AND ACTIVITIES TO DETERMINE IF SHORT-TERM AND LONG-TERM GOALS ARE BEING ACHIEVED. THE EVALUATOR PROVIDES TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, SUPPORT, AND MONITORING IN ORDER TO BUILD EVALUATION CAPACITY WITHIN FUNDED ACTIVITIES AND WITHIN THE PARTNERSHIP.
