Organizations Filed Purposes:
UNITED WAY OF WILKES COUNTY IS DEDICATED TO IMPROVING THE LIVES OF OUR CITIZENS BY UNDERWRITING IDENTIFIED PROGRAMS THAT ENHANCE THEIR WELL-BEING THROUGH OUR 21 PARTNER AGENCIES. THE UNITED WAY OF WILKES COUNTY ANNUALLY IMPACTS OVER 32,000 WILKES COUNTY INDIVIDUALS AND THEIR FAMILIES. COMMUNITY SUPPORT IS CHANNELED INTO ONE OF THREE CRUCIAL IMPACT AREAS AS IDENTIFIED BY OUR CITIZENS. THOSE AREAS ARE CRISIS INTERVENTION, EDUCATION ADVANCEMENT AND HEALTH IMPROVEMENT.
THE MISSION OF THE UNITED WAY OF WILKES COUNTY IS TO INVOLVE THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY TO IDENTIFY OUR COMMUNITY'S NEEDS, DEVELOP RESOURCES AND PARTNER WITH PROGRAMS TO MEET THESE NEEDS.
FUND DISTRIBUTION: THIS PROGRAM HANDLES ALL EXPENSES RELATED TO THE DISTRIBUTION OF FUNDS TO OVER 20 OTHER NON-PROFIT AGENCIES, INCLUDING RECRUITING AND TRAINING OF VOLUNTEERS AND RELATED MEETINGS. THE PROGRAM PAYS AMOUNTS ALLOCATED AND PROCESSES, TRACKS AND PAYS AMOUNTS DESIGNATED. IN ADDITION, THE PROGRAM ASSISTS AGENCIES WITH THEIR OUTCOMES BASED MANAGEMENT PROCESS.
COMMUNITY SERVICES BUILDING: PROVIDES OFFICE SPACE TO COMMUNITY SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS THAT OTHERWISE COULD NOT AFFORD TO HAVE AN OFFICE. WE PROVIDE THE UTILITIES, CLEANING SERVICE AND PAPER PRODUCTS. WE ALSO PROVIDE TWO CONFERENCE ROOMS THEY CAN RESERVE FOR MEETINGS.
COMMUNITY PROBLEM SOLVING: PARTICIPATES IN HUMAN SERVICE INITIATIVES IN THE COMMUNITY; FOR EXAMPLE, ATTEMPTING TO START AN AGENCY OR ESTABLISH COLLABORATION AMONG AGENCIES TO MEET A COMMUNITY NEED. THIS PROGRAM ALSO HANDLES ALL EXPENSES FOR THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY PROCESS, COMMUNITY NEEDS ASSESSMENT PROCESS, PARTICIPATING IN THE VOLUNTEER COALITION, INFORMATION AND REFERRAL, AND MAINTAINING THE IRIS (INFORMATION AND REFERRAL SOFTWARE) DATABASE.
