Other Programs Other Programs of Abundance in 2019 included the 4th Annual Death Faire, 2nd annual Think Again conference focusing on Love in the modern age, Bikes and Barnyards Summer Camp, Pecha Kucha, the Deep River Timebank, and the Chatham Social Justice Exchange. In addition to the Joy of Movement and Apex Farmers Market, Abundance provided Fiscal Sponsorship to heart2heart, Piedmont Earthskills Gathering, and Sparkroot Farm.
PepperfestThe 2019 PepperFest was our biggest year as we partnered with the Town of Pittsboro and closed down the streets to hold the 12th Annual celebration of local food, sustainable farms and farmers as well as the local businesses and community. The move to a centralized location proved to be a good decision and we added an electric car show for educating the public. We estimated 2,500 folks in total attending with 110 booths of food, nonprofits and beverages. The agenda was packed with entertainment and activities for kids.
Joy of Movement Joy of Movement continues to thrive by offering classes and events to enhance personal well-being and meaningful connections in the community through movement, music, and meditation. In 2019, Joy of Movement offered several immersive training opportunities for Nia Belts and workshops by Nia co-founder Debbie Rosas and Black Belts Winalee Zeeb, and Kate Finlayson with as well as Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute trainings for therapists working with trauma victims and EmbodiYoga teacher trainings. In 2019, we have also been able to offer an average of 30 hours of classes per week, in a variety of disciplines, from yoga and meditation to ballroom and belly dance, Kindermusik, T'ai Chi and Capoeira.
