Organizations Filed Purposes: THE COMPOSTING COUNCIL RESEARCH AND EDUCATION FOUNDATIONS (CCREF) SUPPORTS INITIATIVES THAT ENHANCE THE STATURE AND PRACTICES OF THE COMPOSTING INDUSTRY BY SUPPORTING SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH, INCREASING AWARENESS AND EDUCATING THE PUBLIC TO ADVANCE ENVIRONMENTALLY AND ECONOMICALLY SUSTAINABLE ORGANIC RECYCLING.

TWO CENTS FOR COMPOST PROGRAM: A VOLUNTARY DONATION PROGRAM IN WHICH COMPOST PRODUCERS AGREE TO PAY INTO A FUND THAT WILL BE MANAGED BY CCREF. ON AN ANNUAL BASIS, PRODUCERS WILL PAY .02 PER TON OF COMPOST THAT THEY SELL, OR A PENNY PER CUBIC YARD. THIS MONEY WILL BE PLACED IN A DEDICATED FUND THAT WILL BE DISTRIBUTED BY THE CCREF. AFTER ESTABLISHING GRANT- MAKING CRITERIA, THE CCREF WILL USE AN OPEN RFP PROCESS TO SOLICIT PROPOSALS FOR RESEARCH AND EDUCATION PROJECTS. YOUNG INVESTIGATOR SCHOLARSHIP: THE FOCUS OF THE PROGRAM IS TO HELP SUPPORT YOUNG PROFESSIONALS' RESEARCH IN THE FIELDS OF COMPOST USE AND APPLICATION, AND THE SOIL WATER CONNECTION. THE GOAL IS TO BRING ATTENTION TO EMERGING YOUNG PROFESSIONALS IN THE FIELD OF COMPOST.
