Organizations Filed Purposes: LEARNING TOGETHER'S MISSION IS TO MEET THE DEVELOPMENTAL, EDUCATIONAL AND HEALTH NEEDS OF YOUNG CHILDREN BIRTH TO 5 YEARS OLD OF ALL ABILITIES. OUR VISION IS TO CREATE A COMMUNITY OF PROMISE WHERE ALL CHILDREN OF ALL ABILITIES ARE ABLE TO REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL WITH THE SUPPORT OF THEIR COMMUNITY AND THEIR FAMILIES. OUR TAG LINE IS: "WHERE CHILDREN OF ALL ABILITIES ARE VALUED AND RESPECTED." WE GUIDE OUR PROGRAMS AND SERVICES THROUGH SPECIFIC ATTENTION TO INCLUSION, DIVERSITY, INTEGRITY, AND QUALITY IN EDUCATION.

TO MEET THE DEVELOPMENTAL, EDUCATIONAL AND HEALTH NEEDS OF YOUNG CHILDREN OF ALL ABILITIES.

THE DEVELOPMENTAL DAY PROGRAM PRESENTS AN INCLUSIVE, EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT FOR CHILDREN AGES 18 MONTHS TO FIVE YEARS OLD WITH, OR AT RISK FOR, DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES AS WELL AS FOR CHILDREN TYPICALLY DEVELOPING. THE OBJECTIVE OF THE SCHOOL IS THAT EACH CHILD, NO MATTER WHERE THEY MAY FALL ON THE LEARNING SPECTRUM, WILL RECEIVE THE FOUNDATION THEY NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL AND REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL. THE DEVELOPMENTAL DAY PROGRAM IS LICENSED AS A FIVE-STAR CENTER, THE HIGHEST RATING POSSIBLE THROUGH THE NORTH CAROLINA DIVISION OF CHILD DEVELOPMENT AND EARLY EDUCATION. LEARNING TOGETHER IS ALSO NAEYC ACCREDITED, WHICH IS A NATIONAL ACCREDITATION HELD BY ONLY 10% OF THE CHILDCARE CENTERS IN THE UNITED STATES.LEARNING TOGETHER ALSO PLACES GREAT VALUE IN ESTABLISHING RELATIONSHIPS WITH FAMILIES. WE ARE USUALLY THE FIRST ENTRY INTO PRESCHOOL SERVICES FOR SOME FAMILIES, WHICH ALSO MEANS WE ARE THE ENTRY POINT FOR PARENTS WITH CHILDREN WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DELAYS INTO THE WAKE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM (WCPSS). PARENTS ARE LEARNING HOW TO NAVIGATE THE SPECIAL EDUCATION SYSTEM, WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY LEARNING HOW TO RAISE A CHILD(REN) WITH A UNIQUE SET OF NEEDS. LEARNING TOGETHER PARTNERS WITH THESE PARENTS TO IDENTIFY WHAT IS DEVELOPMENTALLY APPROPRIATE FOR THEIR CHILD(REN) AND OVERCOME THESE CHALLENGES WITH SUCCESSFUL AND PROVEN TECHNIQUES. SINCE WE BEGAN SERVING CHILDREN AND FAMILIES IN 1969, LEARNING TOGETHER HAS MAINTAINED A REPUTATION AS A PROGRAM THAT EMBRACES INCLUSION IN THE CLASSROOM. LEARNING TOGETHER TAKES GREAT PRIDE IN PROVIDING EDUCATIONAL SERVICES FOR ALL CHILDREN THROUGH THE USE OF DEVELOPMENTALLY APPROPRIATE PRACTICES BY CREATING A CARING COMMUNITY OF LEARNERS, TEACHING TO ENHANCE DEVELOPMENT AND LEARNING, PLANNING CURRICULUM TO ACHIEVE IMPORTANT GOALS, ASSESSING CHILDREN'S DEVELOPMENT AND LEARNING, AND ESTABLISHING RECIPROCAL RELATIONSHIPS WITH FAMILIES. STUDENTS WHO ARE GIVEN THE ADVANTAGE OF ATTENDING A PRE-KINDERGARTEN (PRE-K) PROGRAM DEVELOP MUCH NEEDED EMOTIONAL, ACADEMIC, AND SOCIAL SKILLS THEY MAY OTHERWISE LACK WHEN ENTERING KINDERGARTEN. STUDENTS WHO DEVELOP SELF-REGULATION SKILLS GAIN CONFIDENCE AS THEY MASTER ACADEMIC CONCEPTS, AND LEARN TO COOPERATE WITH THEIR PEERS IN PRE-K WILL BE FAR BETTER PREPARED TO ENTER KINDERGARTEN. THIS IS PARTICULARLY TRUE FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE ALREADY AT A DISADVANTAGE IN ANY OR ALL OF THESE AREAS. WE ARE COMMITTED TO "CHANGING THE CLASSROOM TODAY TO CHANGE THE WORKPLACE TOMORROW". DURING THIS FISCAL YEAR ENDING 06/30/20, 89% OF CHILDREN GRADUATING FROM OUR PRE-K PROGRAM ENTERED KINDERGARTEN ON THE STANDARD COURSE OF STUDY.

THE CHILD MENTAL HEALTH INITIATIVE (CMHI) PROVIDED SUPPORT TO TEACHERS, CHILDREN, AND FAMILIES THIS FISCAL YEAR. PROGRAMS FOR PARENTS INCLUDED A POSITIVE PARENTING PROGRAM CALLED TRIPLE P, ONE ON ONE SUPPORT TO FAMILIES, AND IN-CLASS INTERVENTION WITH CHILDREN. CMHI ALSO SUPPORTED IMPROVED TEACHER INTERACTION AND SUPPORTED BOTH CHILDREN AND PARENTS THROUGH COACHING ON POSITIVE DISCIPLINE WITH EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICES.
