THESE TRAININGS PROVIDED OPPORTUNITIES FOR NONPROFIT BOARD AND STAFF MEMBERS TO STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY ASSETS, EXCHANGE SOLUTIONS TO PROBLEMS, SHARE THE LESSONS THEY HAVE LEARNED, AND OFFER SUPPORT TO EACH OTHER IN THEIR CHALLENGING WORK. TOPICS INCLUDED FUNDRAISING AND DONOR OUTREACH IN A POST-COVID 19 WORLD, BUSINESS SECURITY ESSENTIALS, LEVERAGING LINKEDIN FOR HUMAN RESOURCE TEAMS, BUILDING ORGANIZATIONAL RESILIENCE, AND MUCH MORE. DURING OTHER TRAINING ACTIVITIES, WE: EDUCATED 439 NONPROFIT LEADERS ABOUT EMERGING ISSUES AND BEST PRACTICES AT OUR 2019 STATEWIDE CONFERENCE, HOMEGROWN INNOVATION. THIS TWO-DAY EVENT FEATURED A KEYNOTE PRESENTATION, "LEADING WITH OPTIMISM: THE POWER OF CONFIDENCE IN CHAOS", BY DANA WESTON AS WELL AS DOZENS OF WORKSHOPS TACKLING ALL ASPECTS OF NONPROFIT MANAGEMENT AND OPERATIONS, AND DEEP-DIVE INTENSIVES ON THE POWER OF CAUSE SELLING FOR REVENUE GROWTH, ADDRESSING RACE EQUITY IN ORGANIZATIONS AND THE NONPROFIT SECTOR, THOUGHT LEADERSHIP FOR NONPROFITS, AND LAWS THAT GOVERN NONPROFITS. COLLABORATED WITH THE N.C. ASSOCIATION OF CPAS TO OFFER THE 2020 NOT-FOR- PROFIT ACCOUNTING CONFERENCE WITH 320 PEOPLE ATTENDING VIRTUALLY. THE CENTER CONTINUED BUILDING UPON OUR "WALKING THE TALK: EQUITY, DIVERSITY, AND INCLUSION IN NORTH CAROLINA NONPROFITS," A MULTI-YEAR INITIATIVE TO SUPPORT THE CAPACITY OF NONPROFITS TO ADDRESS ISSUES OF RACE EQUITY AND INCLUSION BOTH IN THEIR PROGRAMS AND WITHIN THEIR OWN ORGANIZATIONS. A NEW 5-SESSION SERIES, "EDI ROUNDTABLE FOR NONPROFIT EXECUTIVES: PRACTICAL STRATEGIES FOR DISMANTLING RACISM WITHIN NORTH CAROLINA NONPROFITS" WILL LAUNCH IN AUGUST 2020 TO HELP BUILD AND DIVERSIFY THE NONPROFIT LEADERSHIP PIPELINE. THIS EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM WILL FOCUS ON THE RACIAL LEADERSHIP GAP, THE GENERATIONAL LEADERSHIP GAP, AND THE POLICIES, PRACTICES, AND ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURES IN NONPROFITS THAT EXACERBATE THESE GAPS. EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS/CEOS, BOARD CHAIRS AND OTHER BOARD LEADERSHIP, HUMAN RESOURCES STAFF, BUSINESS LEADERS, AND OTHER DECISION MAKERS WILL BE INVITED TO JOIN THIS VIRTUAL ROUNDTABLE LEARNING OPPORTUNITY TO FACILITATE IDEAS AND ACTIONS TOWARDS ELIMINATING SYSTEMIC BARRIERS AND PRACTICES WITHIN NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS. VALUE OUR MEMBERS: THE NORTH CAROLINA CENTER FOR NONPROFITS OFFERED AN ARRAY OF BENEFITS AND SERVICES TO INCREASE NONPROFITS' KNOWLEDGE AND THEIR CAPACITY TO MAKE A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE FOR THEIR COMMUNITIES AND CAUSES. WE REVAMPED AND LAUNCHED OUR ANNUAL MEMBER SURVEY IN SEPTEMBER 2019. WE CHANGED THE SURVEY FROM PREVIOUS YEARS TO LEARN MORE DEEPLY ABOUT NONPROFITS' NEEDS AND THE RESOURCES THEY SEEK IN ORDER TO LEARN HOW WE CAN BEST SERVE THEM IN THE DAYS, MONTHS, AND YEARS AHEAD. ALONG WITH SURVEY DATA, THE BEST MEASURE OF THE VALUE OF THE CENTER'S SERVICES TO NORTH CAROLINA'S NONPROFITS IS WHETHER THEY RENEW THEIR MEMBERSHIPS. WE LAUNCHED "ASK A NONPROFIT.IST" DAYS ON OUR ONLINE MEMBER ENGAGEMENT COMMUNITY, CENTER CONNECT, WHICH ALLOWED FOR OUR MEMBERS TO CONNECT WITH VARIOUS PROFESSIONALS FOR EXPERT ADVICE ACROSS OUR 12 PRINCIPLES, THEREBY HELPING 501(C)(3) NONPROFITS BUILD AND IMPROVE UPON THE MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS ESSENTIAL TO THEIR GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT. IN RESPONSE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, WE GRANTED 3-MONTH EXTENSIONS TO ALL CURRENT MEMBERSHIPS. WE ALSO OFFERED WEEKLY "IN THIS TOGETHER" MEMBER FORUMS TO PROVIDE A SAFE SPACE FOR OUR MEMBERS TO OFFER MUTUAL SUPPORT FOR ONE ANOTHER THROUGH THE CHANGES AND UNCERTAINTY AS A RESULT OF THE PANDEMIC. WE PROVIDED OVER 212 HOURS OF PRO BONO SUPPORT ACROSS 6 PRO BONO PROGRAM AREAS OF LEGAL, MARKETING, HUMAN RESOURCES, ACCOUNTING, COACHING, AND EXECUTIVE TRANSITION.
