Organizations Filed Purposes:
Our mission is to help parents homeschool with confidence and joy. We do this by working to (1) protect the rights of NC citizens to homeschool, (2) equip families with the information and encouragement they need, and (3) connect families with other homeschooling families & groups across the state.
NCHE uses print and digital media (newsletters, webinars, blog posts, website, etc.) to inform members about topics of interest and keep them abreast of resources available to homeschools and homeschoolers.
The NCHE Athletic Commission organizes and administers regular season leagues and post-season tournaments in the traditional high school sports. These teams compete against other homeschool, private school, and public school teams. Sports covered typically include Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Fencing, Soccer (Boys and Girls), Swimming, and volleyball. Despite needing to cancel three sports programs due to COVID, NCHE provided opportunities for 122 teams and 1,135 student athletes in 2020.
NCHE's annual conference generally offers seminars, instructional resources, and access to college recruiters (a "college fair"), along with a high school graduation ceremony to support the homeschooling community. Remote support for high school graduation was the biggest part of this effort in 2020 due to COVID restrictions.
