Educational activities to promote environmental justice.
NCEJN is a coalition of community organizations & their supporters who work with low wealth communities & people of color to promote health and environmental equity, clean industry, safe work places & fair access to all human & natural resources. We accomplish these goals through organizing, advocacy, research & education based on principles of economic & political equity.We held 21st statewide EJ Summit & 4 quarterly meetings hosted in communities across the state, community organizing with residents impacted by hurricane Florence, participation in university courses, attendance at public hearings of city council & stare legislature, signatories to letters denouncing environmental injustic; worked with communities on campaigns that have prevented further detriment to communities of color; such as clean-up of hazardous waste sites, landfill siting, hog lagoon clean-up, filing title VI administrative challenges & providing comments on state regulatory procedures.
