SUSTAINABLE SANDHILLS PARTNERED WITH SEVERAL COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS INCLUDING LONG-TERM RECOVERY GROUPS, CHURCHES AND CIVIC GROUPS TO PRESENT SEVEN WORKSHOPS TO 200 RESIDENTS IMPACTED BY CATASTROPHIC FLOODING AND SUBSEQUENT MOLD GROWTH. SUSTAINABLE SANDHILLS USED CURRICULA BASED ON NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SCIENCES, FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY AND CENTERS FOR DISEASE CONTROL RESOURCES AND TRAINING PROGRAMS. PARTICIPANTS LEARNED TO IDENTIFY, TREAT AND REMEDIATE MOLD
SUSTAINABLE SANDHILLS HOSTED THE REGIONS FIRST DRIVE ELECTRIC CAR SHOW AND TEST DRIVE EVENT, DEMONSTRATING THE BENEFITS OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES AND THEIR ABILITIES TO IMPROVE AIR QUALITY AND REDUCE OUR NATIONAL DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN SOURCES OF PETROLEUM. OVER 20 ELECTRIC VEHICLE OWNERS SHOWCASED THEIR VEHICLES AND OVER 200 PEOPLE ENJOYED THE INAUGURAL EVENT.

MS. ESTACIO-MANNING EXAMINED THE SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACTS OF THE ATLANTIC COAST PIPELINE, WHICH WAS SLATED TO PASS DIRECTLY THROUGH SEVERAL SANDHILLS COUNTIES IN NORTH CAROLINA. MR. EVERITT WORKED ON SEVERAL MAJOR PROJECTS FOR SUSTAINABLE SANDHILLS AND ITS PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS INCLUDING A PRESCRIBED BURN AWARENESS SURVEY FOR THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES AND A RECYCLING
