Organizations Filed Purposes:
To provide charitable services in our local community by addressing the needs of children's services, health and wellness programs, cultural enrichment, and education awareness programs.
Child Care Services: Our childcare programs have been in existence since 2000. As the new changes come to childcare services, we provide and equip our staff with the education resource to ensure that our childcare centers provide the best quality childcare services possible at lowest cost to our families. We understand the concept that "It takes a village to raise a child." We provide quality care to over 100 children 0-12 years of age daily serving Hoke and surrounding counties.
Health & Wellness Programs' goal is to improve the physical health, social wellness and economic health of the American Indian people in Hoke County through programs and services that provide physical exercise opportunities, healthy, organic food that is cooperatively grown and harvested at Hawkeye Farms. Additionally, to improve the economic health of the community a tourism project is in place to create jobs for our local youth, adults and elders to share and educate the community at large about the contributions, tradiions, and lifeways of the American Indians in North Carolina. We had 121 volunteers that provided 1,892 volunteer hours to support this program.
Cultural Awareness: Our Cultural Festival/Pow-Wow Event is an annual event that is held in November each year in celebration of Indian Heritage Month. We also provide cultural presentations in local schools and businesses. We offer American Indian cultural education and enrichment classes to our youth and adults, provided by 10 local artist teaching arts and crafts, life survival skills, drumming and dancing, pottery making and basket weaving. Through our annual cultural festival/pow-wow and and other events our Native American students performed at, we enriched the minds of approximately 10, 000 people of all races, nationalities and ages.
