Organizations Filed Purposes:
During 2020, we provided shelter, food, clothing, transport & child needs free of charge to 8 individuals. The women (ages 18 to 30) & their chidren that received our services were either homeless, self harming, fleeing an abusive relationship or recovering from substance abuse. We provided transportation to any & all appointments, meetings court hearings, & program activities. As part of the program, women learn to create menus for the week so they can cook at home. They create grocery shopping lists from their menus & learn to shop within a specfied budget. We puchased over $3300 in food & nutritional needs for the women & their children during 2020.
The women in our program participated in at least 69 hours of counsel- ing and/or addiction recovery support sessions during 2020. And, they attended more than 180 hours in education & life skills training. An important part of our program is 24-hour supervision for peer-to-peer support & safety of the women & children in our program. The women learn: organizational skills, budgeting, finanical awareness, and general household maintenance while in our program. All education is taught in light of what the Bible says about stewardship. The women are given resources to take with them as they transition out of the program into a home of their own.
We provided referrals to more than 56 individuals and/or community organizations during 2020. We contributed to our community by provid- ing referral resources, training for our volunteers & promoting aware- ness of our ministry. CPR training was provided to the women in our program. We give the women in our program the opportunity to learn real life skills that can be used when searching for a job and the ability to learn the sense of responsibility & independence by serving at our thrift store. The store offers lessons in customer service, re- tail marketing, problem solving, & personal responsibility. Women in our program served over 450 hours at the thrift store during 2020.
