Baptist Children's Homes of North Carolina (BCH) is a nonprofit organization that reaches out to children and families in crisis. The agency's mission statement is "Sharing Hope...Changing Lives."
Residential Services - A total of 956 children and 909 families were provided residential services through this program. Residential services provides care for shoolage children. A safe caring environment is provided to children who have been abused, neglected or abandoned.We use an evidenced based model of care from Cornell University called CARE (Children and Residential Experiences), and a therapeutic crisis intervention model called TCI. Both focus on being trauma informed, family involved, developmental focused, ecologically oriented, relationship based, competence centered.
Residential Services for Adults with Developmental Disabilities - A total of 52 adults and 52 families received services through this program. Residential services as well as recreational and learning activities are provided in a loving, enriching and quality setting.
Residential Wilderness Camping programs - Baptist Children's Homes' offers residential wilderness camps for school-aged boys and girls. Cameron Boys Camp is located in Cameron, NC near Southern Pines. Camp Duncan for Girls is based in Aberdeen close to Pinehurst. Camp provides behavioral change for children in a highly structured, wilderness environment. Three staff members called Chiefs supervise each group of ten children. The well-balanced, licensed alternative education program teaches discipline and self-worth. The program provides children and their families an opportunity to work out problems. From arrival at camp through follow-up visits in the home, social workers focus on all family members.
