Organizations Filed Purposes: THE MISSION OF MCA, INC. IS TO PROMOTE PUBLIC UNDERSTANDING OF BOTH CAUSES AND CONDITIONS OF POVERTY IN THE COUNTIES WE SERVE AND SURROUNDING AREAS AND THE ATTITUDINAL AND INSTITUTIONAL BARRIERS TO SELF-SUFFICIENCY THAT LOW INCOME PEOPLE FACE. OUR MISSION IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH ADVOCACY OF SOUND, HUMANE PUBLIC POLICIES ON THE PROBLEM OF POVERTY.MCA, INC. WILL ENCOURAGE SELF-SUFFICIENCY THROUGH SELF-HELP, INDIVIDUAL AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION, AND BY ENCOURAGING OPPORTUNITIES FOR EFFECTIVE COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION BY LOW-INCOME PEOPLE.MCA, INC. WILL IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF LOW-INCOME INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES BY MOBILIZING THE NECESSARY RESOURCES; PUBLIC, PRIVATE, FINANCIAL AND HUMAN, TO SUPPORT THE EFFICIENT OPERATION OF A RANGE OF PROGRAMS AND SERVICES TO LOW-INCOME PEOPLE. THE PROGRAMS AND SERVICES MEET BASIC SURVIVAL NEEDS AND OFFER THE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND OPPORTUNITIES NECESSARY TO ACHIEVE INDIVIDUAL, FAMILY AND COMMUNITY SELF-SUFFICIENCY.

PROVIDE SERVICES TO LOW-INCOME FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS IN THE PITT, MARTIN, AND BEAUFORT COUNTY AREAS THAT ALLEVIATE THE EFFECTS OF POVERTY AND PROMOTE DIGNITY FOR THIS POPULATION BY LEVERAGING FUNDS TO UTILIZE LOCAL, STATE, PRIVATE AND FEDERAL SOURCES WHICH ASSIST THESE FAMILIES IN ACQUIRING SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND NEW OPPORTUNITIES TO ACHIEVE SELF SUFFICIENCY.

HEAD START - COMPREHENSIVE DEVELOPMENTAL PROGRAM FOR PRESCHOOL CHILDREN PROVIDING SERVICES SUCH AS EDUCATION, HEALTH, NUTRITION, SOCIAL ISSUES, AND PARENT INVOLVEMENT.OPERATE SEVEN HEAD START CENTERS THROUGHOUT MARTIN, PITT AND BEAUFORT COUNTIES. APPROXIMATELY 527 CHILDREN ARE SERVED UNDER THIS PROGRAM.

RESIDENT ENERGY EFFICIENCY SERVICES - THIS PROGRAM ASSISTS PARTICIPANTS IN REDUCING HEATING AND COOLING COSTS BY IMPROVING THE ENERGY EFFICIENCY OF THEIR HOMES.

COMMUNITY SERVICES BLOCK GRANT - THIS PROGRAMS SEEKS TO ADDRESS POVERTY AT THE COMMUNITY LEVEL BY PROVIDING EMPLOYMENT, EDUCATION, INCOME MANAGEMENT, HOUSING, NUTRITION, EMERGENCY SERVICES, AND HEALTH SERVICES.
