Organizations Filed Purposes:
To provide no kill animal rescue service to rescue, rehabilitate and prepare domestic animals for adoption. Educate the community and provide homes for abandoned, abused and neglected domestic animals in Brunswick County, and surrounding counties of North Carolina.
During 2020 Paws Place was able to rescue 151 dogs and facilitated adoptions for 149 dogs. Despite the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and adapting to safety protocols, we were able to keep up with "business as usual" saving lives of abandoned, abused, and neglected dogs in our region. With the hard work of our board members, staff, and dedicated volunteers, we provided a loving environment for so many dogs as they awaited their forever homes. In March, we were forced to cancel our annual Raise the Ruff and Beyond fundraiser with a Casino Night theme. However, we did have our 7th Annual Golf Outing in September. Everyone had a great time on the golf course and bidding for raffle prices. The proceeds from this event were used to cover the costs of surgeries, veterinary care, medication, and kennel expenses for our dogs. We do not shy away from the dogs with special medical needs. During 2020 we treated 22 dogs for heartworms and covered the cost of specialty surgeries for fifteen dogs, including orthopedic surgery, leg amputation, and special eye surgery. Most of these dogs have since been adopted into loving homes. The others wait patiently at Paws Place for their forever homes. We are confident their day will come. We are forever grateful to our caring staff, volunteers, and board members for sharing the commitment to give our dogs the life they deserve. As soon as they arrive at Paws Place, they are already rescued!
