It is our mission to enhance the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities by helping them reach their highest potential through training, education, employment, housing and social opportunities in safe, healthy and stimulating environments.
Residential services for developmentally disabled adults. The 19 group homes continued upgrades and maintenance to support individuals in a safe and pleasant home. 24 hour staff support is provided so that individual can enjoy recreational and educational opportunities in the community. In addition, staff provides support to many individuals so they can live independently in their own apartments. With the suspension of employment and day programs due to COVID-19 our group homes became more vital to creating ways to support the resident's needs and safety.
Employment services to developmentally disabled adults completed transitional services in Dec 2019 from a packing and assembly business to seeking placement for community employment opportunities and job coaching support for this population of individuals. In addition, therapeutic activities and training are provided on a daily basis for those who are not working. This includes specialized programs for those who are medically fragile with significant needs. The growing focus continues to be providing individuals with community living services that include community outings and socialization. In mid March 2020, employment and day programs were suspended for most. Some individuals did retain the work programs as an essential service.
Transportation services for developmentally disabled adults. Edwards fleet of vehicles transport our residential clients to work, to medical appointments, shopping recreational activities. Drivers are specially trained to provide transport for this population.
