Organizations Filed Purposes:
WE ARE A COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATION THAT INSPIRES AND SUPPORTS A PASSION FOR THE SPORT OF ROWING. WE DEVELOP COMPETITIVE AND RECREATIONAL ROWERS AT ALL LEVELS, EMBRACING FUN, TEAMWORK, TRUST AND MUTUAL RESPECT BY CREATIVELY ENGAGING THE TALENT, TIME AND RESOURCES OF OUR MEMBERS
YOUTH (JUNIOR) ROWING PROGRAM IS OFFERED TO KIDS IN GRADES 6 TO 12 DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR AND SUMMER. APROXIMATELY 100 STUDENTS PARTICIPATE DURING THE YEAR. IN ADDITION, THERE ARE APPROXIMATELY 70 STUDENTS WHO TRAVEL FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY TO PARTICIPATE IN A THREE WEEK LONG CAMP WITH ROGUE ROWING COACHES. THEY LEARN ROWING TECHNIQUE, TEAMWORK, WATER SAFETY, THE DISCIPLINE REQUIRED TO DEVELOP FITNESS AND TO BE A COMPETITIVE ROWER. THEY LEARN HOW TO HANDLE EQUIPMENT AND HOW TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS. THEY LEARN HOW TO DEVELOP AND CARRY OUT A RACE STRATEGY, HOW TO PREPARE MENTALLY AND HOW TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR BODIES WITH GOOD NUTRITION, EFFECTIVE TRAINING WITH ATTENTION TO INTENSITY AND RECOVERY. SEVERAL JUNIOR MEMBERS HAVE GONE TO NATIONAL COMPETITIONS AND MANY HAVE GONE ON TO COMPETE AS MEMBERS OF COLLEGE CREWS. JUNIORS HAVE FOUND THAT THEIR ROWING ACHIEVEMENTS WERE AN ASSET ON COLLEGE ENTRANCE APPLICATIONS.
ROWING LESSONS TO PARTICIPANTS. SESSIONS ARE DESIGNED TO IMPROVE TECHNIQUE AND ENHANCE FITNESS. WE ACCEPT ANY AGE AND BACKGROUND INTO THIS PROGRAM BY GIVING DISCOUNTS AND CREDIT TO THOSE IN NEED. THIS EXTENDS THE PROGRAM TO ABOUT 100 ADDITIONAL INDIVIDUALS WHO RECEIVE LESSONS TO IMPROVE THEIR SKILLS. THOSE WHO ARE INTERESTED,ARE ALLOWED TO TEST THOSE SKILLS AT COMPEITIOTNS ON THE US WEST COAST. THE CLUB SUPPOSRTS ITS ROWERS BY ACQUIRING AND MAINTAINING ROWING EQUIPMENT OF ALL KINDS INCLUDING SHELLS OF ALL SIZES, OARS, LAUNCHES AND ENGINES WHICH ARE USED TO GIVE COMPLETE EXPERIENCE TO EVERY ROWER.
LEARN-TO-ROW CLINICS TO INTRODUCE COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO ROWING. 100'S OF INDIVIDUALS ARE PROVIDED THE CHANCE TO TRY ROWING NO MATTER THEIR BACKGROUND OR ABILITY. THESE OPPORTUNITIES RANGE FROM ONE-DAY CLINICS TO LESSONS THAT RUN FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR. IN ADDITION, THE CLUB PROVIDES LEARN TO ROW OPPORTUNITIES FOR AN ADAPATIVE PROGRAM ADAPTIVE ROWING IS THE SPORT OF SWEEP ROWING OR SCULLING FOR PEPLE WITH PHYSICAL OR INTELLECTUAL IMPAIRMENTS. AN ADAPTIVE ROWER IS A ROWER WHO REQUIRES MODIFICATIONS TO EQUIPMENT, COACHING AND PROGRAM STRUCTURE TO ALLOW FOR MAXIMUM EFFECTIVENESS OF THE ROWING STROKE. AN ADAPTIVE ROWER MAY BE A PERSON WHO HAS, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO: LIMB AMPUTATION, JOINT LIMIATIONS, BLINDNESS, VISUAL IMPAIRMENTS, PARAPLEGIA, QUADRIPLEGIA, MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS, PARKINSON'S, CEREBRAL PALSY, SPINABIFIDA, DOWN SYNDROM, POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER (PTSD), TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURTY (TBI) OR AUTISM.
