Organizations Filed Purposes:
The National Wilderness Stewardship Alliance supports wilderness stewardship organizations and their volunteers that work in the National Wilderness Preservation System. We provide website resources, trainings, webinars, newsletters, produce the National Wilderness Workshop each year, and provide funding for wilderness stewardship organizations through a challenge costs share with the US Forest Service for volunteer stewardship work on the National Forests.

NWSA supports wilderness stewardship groups across the country offering funding opportunities and on the ground mentoring and instruction for developing partnerships and working with land management agencies. WE have a challenge cost share program with the US Forest Service that enables stewardship organizations to increase their capacity for doing volunteer assistance projects on the National Forests.
NWSA co-hosts the annual National Wilderness Workshop, a national gathering of conservation staff, volunteers, stewardship groups, land management agency staff, and academics to bring the wilderness stewardship community together to share ideas, learn from experts and each other, and develop solutions on issues affecting wilderness management and stewardship. 2020 was an off year due to Covid.
NWSA offers many on-line and digital resources, including toolkits for grant writing, how to start a successful stewardship organization and information on current events and actions affecting wilderness stewardship. NWSA sends out email newsletters, and hosts monthly webinars to provide information and education for the wilderness stewardship community.
