TO PROMOTE AND SUSTAIN HEALTHY COMMUNITIES IN THE DISTRICT THROUGH RETENTION, DIVERSIFICATION AND EXPANSION OF THE ECONOMIC BASE BY ACTIVELY SUPPORTING EXISTING BUSINESSES AND PROMOTING NEW BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT BY 1) ADVOCATING THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT INTERESTS OF THE REGION, 2) PROMOTING COORDINATION, COOPERATION AND COMMUNICATION AMONG ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT GROUPS AND ORGANIZATIONS, 3) PROVIDING ACCESS TO FINANCIAL INCENTIVES FOR BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY IN THE REGION, 4) IMPORTING OUTSIDE CAPITAL INTO THE REGION FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND PUBLIC WORKS PROJECTS, 5) CONDUCTING RESEARCH TO IDENTIFY NEW ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES IN THE REGION AND 6) PROVIDING SUPPORTING SERVICES FOR MARKETING THE REGION FOR BUSINESS AND INDUSTRIAL EXPANSION.
TO PROMOTE AND SUSTAIN HEALTHY COMMUNITIES IN THE DISTRICT THROUGH RETENTION, DIVERSIFICATION AND EXPANSION OF THE ECONOMIC BASE.
AS OF SEPTEMBER 30, 2019, COLUMBIA PACIFIC ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT HAS FINANCED 44 LOANS, WITH 5 OUTSTANDING LOANS TOTALING $451,734 TO ELIGIBLE SMALL BUSINESS BORROWERS UNDER THE INTERMEDIARY RELENDING PROGRAM (IRP) OF THE USDA RURAL BUSINESS COOPERATIVE SERVICES. THERE WERE NO NEW LOANS MADE IN THE 2018-2019 FISCAL YEAR. THROUGH THE RURAL BUSINESS ENTERPRISE GRANT (RBEG), COL-PAC HAS FINANCED 11 LOANS INCLUDING ONE NEW LOAN FOR $2,000 FOR TRUCK DRIVING CLASS FUNDING THAT COL-PAC PARTNERED WITH A LOCAL COLLEGE TO PROVIDE THE FUNDING NEED. A $50,000 INCREASE TO AN EXISTING LOAN (SPORT PEOPLE/CEDAR RIDGE) WAS ALSO FUNDED IN THIS FISCAL YEAR, MAKING THE CURRENT (2018-19) OUTSTANDING RBEG FUND BALANCE $137,826. OVERALL, COL-PAC HAS HELPED SMALL BUSINESSES RETAIN AND CREATE 398 JOBS. OF THE CURRENT OUTSTANDING LOANS, 68 JOBS HAVE BEEN CREATED AND/OR RETAINED FROM THESE PROGRAMS. IN ADDITION, THE ORGANIZATION CONTINUES TO PROVIDE GRANT MANAGEMENT AND STAFFING SERVICES FOR VARIOUS REGIONAL PROJECTS.
