Organizations Filed Purposes: THE FOUNDATION'S MISSION IS TO SUPPORT SOUTHWESTERN OREGON COMMUNITY COLLEGE THROUGH PROMOTION OF PHILANTHROPY TO IMPROVE PEOPLE'S LIVES SOCIALLY, CULTURALLY, ECONOMICALLY AND EDUCATIONALLY THROUGH FRIEND-RAISING AND FUNDRAISING.

TO AID THE EDUCATIONAL NEEDS OF THE SOUTHWESTERN OREGON COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT.

GRANTS AND ACADEMIC PROGRAM SUPPORT - THE FOUNDATION'S SUPPORT OF THE SOUTHWESTERN OREGON COMMUNITY COLLEGE INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO, RECEIVING, INVESTING AND ADMINISTERING THE FUNDS OF, OR FUNDS HELD FOR THE BENEFIT OF, THE COLLEGE. THE FOUNDATION UNDERTAKES SPECIAL PROJECTS TO SUPPORT INNOVATION IN AND CREATION OF COLLEGE PROGRAMS AND CAPITAL PROJECTS. THIS INCLUDES A FUNDRAISING PARTNERSHIP WITH THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY, GRANTORS AND PRIVATE DONORS TO CONSTRUCT A HEALTH & SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY BUILDING AND EQUIPMENT. THE FOUNDATION ASSISTS INSTRUCTORS AND STUDENTS IN FUNDRAISING FOR TRAVEL OPPORTUNITIES RELATED TO PROGRAMS OF STUDY AND CULTURAL EXCHANGE. CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE OTHE FOUNDATION ALSO PROVIDES VARIOUS FINANCIAL AND RELATED SERVICES, INCLUDING RECEIVING, ACKNOWLEDGING, RECEIPTING AND PROCESSING ALL GIFTS. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO INVESTS, MANAGES AND ADMINISTERS ENDOWMENT FUNDS HELD FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE COLLEGE AND STUDENTS; DISBURSING FUNDS IN ACCORDANCE WITH DONOR WISHES.

SCHOLARSHIPS - THE FOUNDATION AWARDED APPROXIMATELY $156,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS DURING 2019-20, ASSISTING 107 STUDENTS WITH TUITION, FEES, BOOKS, LIVING EXPENSES AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL EXPENSES. IN ADDITION THE FOUNDATION PROVIDED GED/TRANSITIONAL EDUCATION TESTING SCHOLARSHIPS TO 79 STUDENTS PREPARING TO ENTER COLLEGE AND PURSUE CAREER TRAINING. THE FOUNDATION AWARDED 19 SCHOLARSHIPS TO STUDENTS EXPERIENCING TEMPORARY FINANCIAL EMERGENCIES TO ENSURE THEY WERE ABLE TO COMPLETE THEIR TERMS OF STUDY.VOLUNTEER INVOLVEMENT - THE FOUNDATION INVOLVED UP TO 35 VOLUNTEERS IN ITS TWO ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP AND EQUIPMENT FUNDRAISING EVENTS. CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE OTHESE EVENTS ARE A COLLABORATION BETWEEN THE FOUNDATION BOARD OF TRUSTEES, LOCAL BUSINESSES AND THE COLLEGE'S CULINARY INSTITUTE. THEY HIGHLIGHT STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS AND BUILD COMMUNITY RELATIONSHIPS WITH GOALS TO 1)IMPROVE STUDENT ACCESS TO COLLEGE, 2) IMPROVE STUDENT SUCCESS, AND 3) IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF INSTRUCTION AND PROGRAMS.
