Organizations Filed Purposes:
Access resources and facilitate quality decision-making on behalf of businesses, communities and entrepreneurs in northeast Oregon.
Foundations of Business class series were held in the fall, winter and spring in all three counties and the Oregon Native Enterprise business development class series was held in Baker City in the spring. A total of 69 people completed the business planning class series. Twenty-three students started a new business after taking the class and twenty-one of those registered a new business with the secretary of state. We anticipate that another eight students will open businesses in the next two years. An additional seventeen people attended one-time content specific trainings.
NEOEDD partnered with the City of La Grande to open the IGNITE Center for Entrepreneurship in La Grande, secured conference room space through a partnership with La Grande Main Street Downtown, and acquired Wildhorse Foundation funding to purchase technology for the center. The center opened in October and hosts our educational workshops. http://www.ignitemybusiness.org/en is the center's website. A monthly networking event for women-owned business happens on the third Tuesday of the month.
As part of our effort to support Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the region's nonprofits, NEOEDD offered the four-part GrantReady workshop series in La Grande in August, with 13 organizations in attendance and strongly positive evaluations. We hosted four Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Roundtables for nonprofits during the year. We hosted six Oregon Humanities conversation projects (Race & Place, The Space Between Us, and Is Technology Outpacing our Humanity) for the general public.
