IN THE 2019/20 SEASON, EUGENE SYMPHONY WAS ABLE TO PRODUCE SIX SYMPHONIC CONCERTS THAT WERE ATTENDED BY 11,064 PEOPLE, PLUS TWO SPECIAL CONCERTS THAT WERE ATTENDED BY 3,225 PEOPLE, FOR A TOTAL OF NEARLY 15,000 PEOPLE EXPERIENCING LIVE SYMPHONIC MUSIC THROUGHOUT THE SEASON. WHEN THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC FORCED US TO CANCEL OUR CONCERTS FROM MARCH THROUGH JUNE, WE PIVOITED TO DIGITAL OFFERINGS AND CREATED OUR VIRTUAL HUB. THE VIRTUAL HUB IS FILLED WITH FREE DIGITAL CONTENT RANGING FROM MUSIC EDUCATION VIDEOS, MUSICIAN RECITALS, AND ARCHIVED CONCERTS AND RADIO BROADCASTS. BY THE END OF THE SEASON, OUR VIRTUAL OFFERINGS REACHED OVER 46,000 PEOPLE. OUR DIVERSE RANGE OF REPERTOIRE, WHICH WE PERFORM AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF ARTISTIC EXCELLENCE, CONTINUES TO ADVANCE OUR MISSION TO ENRICH LIVES THROUGH THE POWER OF MUSIC. WE STRIVE TO SERVE PEOPLE OF ALL AGES AND LEVELS OF EXPERIENCES WITHIN THE SIX-COUNTY REGION REPRESENTING 642,000 RESIDENTS. WE PROVIDED EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMS THAT REACHED APPROXIMATELY 20,000 STUDENTS, TEACHERS, ADULTS, AND SENIORS. OUR SYMPHONIC CONCERTS SUPPORT NOT ONLY OUR 83 PART-TIME PROFESSIONAL MUSICIANS BUT PROVIDE OVER $2 MILLION IN REVENUE TO OUR COMMUNITY, THUS CONTRIBUTING TO ITS CONTINUED PROSPERITY.
THE EUGENE SYMPHONY DEDICATES ITSELF TO MAINTAINING LOW-COST OR FREE ACCESS TO FAMILY, YOUTH AND ADULT MUSIC EXPERIENCES AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING. IN 2019/20, WE PROVIDED PROGRAMS THAT ENGAGED 68,800 STUDENTS, TEACHERS, ADULTS, AND SENIORS. OF THAT, 29,900 PEOPLE WERE REACHED THROUGH RADIO BROADCASTS AND 12,800 PEOPLE ENJOYED OUR FREE EUGENE SYMPHONY IN THE PARK CONCERT SERIES, PRESENTED IN EUGENE, COTTAGE GROVE, AND ROSEBURG. PER OUR COMMITMENT TO ACCESSIBILITY, WE WAIVED THE FEE FOR 2,591, OR 56% OF STUDENTS UNABLE TO AFFORD THE $5.00 TICKET TO OUR YOUTH CONCERTS. WE OFFERED A FREE VIRTUAL REBROADCAST OF OUR FOUR SEASONS OF THE MCKENZIE RIVER CONCERT THAT REACHED OVER 2,200 PEOPLE. WE FULFILLED OUR MISSION TO PROVIDE QUALITY MUSIC EDUCATION TO OUR COMMUNITY THROUGH THESE PERFORMANCES AND ACTIVITIES.
