IN OREGON, OHDC REACHES STATEWIDE TO DELIVER TARGETED SERVICES DESIGNED TO PROMOTE ECONOMIC ADVANCEMENT AND SELF-SUFFICIENCY AMONG FARMWORKERS AND UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES. THESE INTENSIVE CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES ENHANCE CONFIDENCE, SOUGHT AFTER EMPLOYMENT SKILLS AND GREATER PARTICIPATION IN THE LOCAL ECONOMY. OHDC'S STAFF IS PURPOSEFULLY MULTI LINGUAL, CROSS CULTURALLY SENSITIVE AND CONNECTED WITH THE FARMWORKER COMMUNITY. THIS CULTURALLY SENSITIVE SERVICE DELIVERY SYSTEM SPECIALIZES IN OUTREACH TO THE MOST ISOLATED AND VULNERABLE POPULATIONS.
WEATHERIZATION ASSISTANCE - WEATHERIZATION PROGRAM SERVICES TARGETED TOWARDS FARMWORKERS AND UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES, IMPROVES THE ENERGY EFFICIENCY OF THE EXISTING AFFORDABLE HOUSING SUPPLY. THIS SERVICE DELIVERY SYSTEM SPECIALIZES IN PROVIDING HOME ENERGY AUDITS AND INSPECTIONS TO IDENTIFY ENERGY SAVING HOME IMPROVEMENTS. THE RESULT IS AN AFFORDABLE AND ENERGY EFFICIENT DWELLING TO SUPPORT LOW INCOME HOUSEHOLDS.
YOUTH SERVICES - THE YOUTH EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO ASSIST YOUTH IN OBTAINING THEIR EDUCATIONAL CREDENTIALS WHILE RECEIVING SUPPORT SERVICES, HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT COURSES, EMPLOYMENT READINESS TRAINING AND JOB DEVELOPMENT SERVICES. PREPARATION AND TRANSITION SERVICES FOR ADVANCED TRAINING AND COLLEGE STUDIES ARE ALSO INTEGRATED INTO PROGRAM SERVICES. INCENTED SERVICE LEARNING AND WORK-BASED LEARNING EXPERIENCES ARE AVAILABLE THROUGH THE ON-SITE ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM: THE SUPA FRESH YOUTH FARM. STUDENTS ARE EMPOWERED TO INCREASE HEALTHY HABITS, KNOWLEDGE OF LOCAL FOOD SYSTEMS, CULTIVATING FOOD AND POSITIVE IMPACT IN THEIR COMMUNITY THROUGH LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES.
