HEALTHY WORKING LANDS| WE EXPANDED PROTECTION OF OREGON'S PRODUCTIVE FARM AND FOREST LAND BY SERVING AS THE LAND USE SUB-COMMITTEE CHAIR ON THE GOVERNOR'S WILDFIRE RESPONSE COUNCIL; BUILDING ON THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF OUR 2019 WILDFIRE REPORT WITH BOTH THE COMMITTEE AND AT THE LEGISLATURE; CREATING NEW POSITIONS FOR TWO WORKING LANDS ATTORNEYS AND A WORKING LANDS ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR; PROVIDING LAND USE LEGAL SUPPORT THROUGHOUT OREGON, INCLUDING WINNING A CASE TO SAVE 22,500 ACRES IN SOUTHERN OREGON FROM DEVELOPMENT; MONITORING URBAN GROWTH BOUNDARIES ACROSS THE STATE; FINALIZING A NEW FARMLAND REPORT WITH 10 POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PUBLICATION IN 2020; AND GROWING OUR FARMER ADVISORY COMMITTEE.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT| WE WORKED TO CONNECT OREGONIANS WITH THE STATE'S LAND USE PLANNING PROGRAM BY CONVENING A MULTI-DAY CONFERENCE FOR OUR DOZEN REGIONAL AFFILIATES; HELPING OREGONIANS CONTACT THEIR LEGISLATORS THROUGH BOTH NUMEROUS EMAIL CALLS-TO-ACTION AS WELL AS OUR ANNUAL LOBBY DAY IN SALEM; TEACHING THE NEXT GENERATION WITH OUR 6TH AND 7TH LAND USE LEADERSHIP INITIATIVES, A PROGRAM WITH NEARLY 150 GRADUATES IN BOTH THE PORTLAND REGION AND IN SOUTHERN OREGON; ACTIVATING OUR PORTLAND FOR EVERYONE COALITION TO ADVOCATE FOR THE PASSAGE OF BETTER HOUSING BY DESIGN AND THE RESIDENTIAL INFILL PROJECT; AND HOSTING THREE SUMMER INTERNSHIPS, ONE OF WHICH RESULTED IN OUR NEW FARMLAND REPORT.
