BIKE SHOP:THE COMMUNITY CYCLING CENTER OPERATES A FULL-SERVICE PROFESSIONAL BIKE SHOP. IN 2013, APPROXIMATELY 1,035 REFURBISHED AND "AS IS" USED BIKES WERE SOLD. THE SHOP ALSO SELLS NEW ACCESSORIES (HELMETS, LOCKS, BIKE BAGS, ETC), PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL INFORMATION AND COMMUNITY TOOLS AS WELL AS BICYCLE REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE SERVICES BY PROFESSIONAL MECHANICS. THE BIKE SHOP PROVIDES SUPPORT TO ALL PROGRAMS THROUGH OUTREACH EVENTS AND COMMUNITY PARTNER INITIATIVES. RECYCLING: FOR 2013, 2,487 BICYCLES WERE DONATED OF WHICH 1,736 (70%) WERE EITHER REFURBISHED FOR EARN BIKE PROGRAMS OR SOLD TO THE PUBLIC. BICYCLES TOO UNSAFE TO REPAIR WERE RESPONSIBLY RECYCLED, REDIRECTING OVER 21.8 TONS OF METAL, RUBBER, AND PLASTIC FROM LOCAL LAND FILLS.
SUMMER CAMPS:IN 2013, 506 CHILDREN ATTENDED SUMMER CAMPS, WHICH ARE FEE-BASED PROGRAMS FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC TO PROMOTE SAFETY, BIKE MAINTENANCE, AND A CHANCE TO EXPLORE THEIR COMMUNITY BY BICYCLE. SCHOLARSHIPS WERE GRANTED TO LOW-INCOME FAMILIES SO THAT 16 CHILDREN COULD ATTEND THE BIKE CAMP PROGRAM.
EARN A BIKE PROGRAMS: THE COMMUNITY CYCLING CENTER PROVIDES PROGRAMS FOR LOW-INCOME YOUTH AND ADULTS BY TEACHING BICYCLE SAFETY, MAINTENANCE SKILLS, AND PROVIDING EXPERIENCE NAVIGATING THEIR COMMUNITY. AT HOLIDAY BIKE DRIVE, 382 CHILDREN RECEIVED THEIR FIRST BICYCLE, SAFETY LESSONS, AND HELMET. THROUGH THE AFTER SCHOOL BIKE CLUB, 27 LOW-INCOME CHILDREN EARNED BICYCLES AND RECEIVED EXPERIENCE WITH BICYCLE SAFETY, MAINTENANCE, AND RIDING ON THE ROAD. THE CREATE A COMMUTER PROGRAM WORKED WITH 162 LOW-INCOME ADULTS EARNING BIKES FOR STAYING HEALTHY AND ACCESSING WORK.
